Zohar Vayera
Continued from previous DZ
#178
The Holy One, Blessed be He, desires to involve the Tzadikim with Him so that they may go and warn people to turn away from their sins and thus avoid punishment from the higher judgment. In this way, the people cannot claim that they were not warned or did not know. For this reason, God reveals His secrets to the Tzadikim so they may deliver the message that there is judgment upon the people. Furthermore, this ensures people cannot say they were punished without due justice.

Notes:
Hashem’s decision to inform the Tzadikim of impending judgments allows them to serve as compassionate intermediaries, warning people of the need for Teshuva. By providing this opportunity, Hashem ensures that justice from above is fair and that people cannot claim ignorance if punished. This passage highlights the importance of transparency and mercy within the spiritual system, where even judgment is issued with an opportunity for correction. It reinforces the role of the Tzadikim as not only examples of virtue but also as active agents of Hashem’s mercy, fostering awareness and change in the world around them.

#179
Rabbi Elazar said, “Woe to the wicked, who do not know or take heed, who fail to be cautious of their sins. For the Holy One, Blessed be He, whose deeds are all true and whose ways are just, does not do anything in the world without first revealing it to the Tzadikim so that people cannot have any excuse against Him, as explained above. All the more so, people should ensure that their actions are such that no one can speak ill of them. As it is written, “וִהְיִיתֶם נְקִיִּים מֵה’ וּמִיִּשְׂרָאֵל” “And you shall be innocent before YHVH and before Israel’ (Numbers 32:22).”

#180
It is the responsibility of the Tzadikim to ensure that people have no excuse to complain against the Holy One, Blessed be He. They should warn people that if they sin and do not guard themselves, they give an opening for God’s attribute of judgment to accuse them. How can they be saved from the attribute of judgment? By doing Teshuva and performing good deeds.

Notes:
The Tzadikim have a duty to guide others toward awareness and self-guarding to prevent judgment from taking hold. By encouraging repentance and good deeds, the Tzadikim help people avoid the consequences of sin. It is important for a person to take personal responsibility for one’s actions, and it is valuable to have mentors who guide them according to the spiritual laws of the Torah and align with Hashem’s will.
