Daily Zohar # 4805 – Vayakhel – Guard her closely

Hebrew translation:
186. סוֹד הַסּוֹדוֹת לְיוֹדְעֵי הַחָכְמָה. אַשְׁרֵיהֶם כְּשֶׁרוּחַ זוֹ מִתְעוֹרֶרֶת. הָרוּחַ הַזּוֹ הִיא הִתְפַּשְּׁטוּת הַנְּקֻדָּה הַזּוֹ, וְיוֹצֵאת מִמֶּנָּה וּמִתְפַּשֶּׁטֶת בָּעוֹלָם, וְאוֹתָהּ הִיא סוֹד הַשַּׁבָּת שֶׁשָּׁרוּי לְמַטָּה, וְעַל כָּךְ כָּתוּב בּוֹ שְׁמִירָה, (שמות לא) וְשָׁמְרוּ בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת הַשַּׁבָּת, וַהֲרֵי פֵּרְשׁוּהָ, לֹא כָתוּב שַׁבָּת, אֶלָּא אֶת הַשַּׁבָּת, לְרַבּוֹת אוֹתָהּ רוּחַ שֶׁשּׁוֹרָה עַל הַכֹּל, וְצָרִיךְ לִשְׁמֹר אוֹתָהּ הוֹאִיל וְעוֹמֶדֶת עִם הָאָדָם. וְעַל זֶה כָּתוּב, (ישעיה נו) כָּל שֹׁמֵר שַׁבָּת מֵחַלְּלוֹ.

At the time when this Ruach descends, Sixty chariots descend with it into Gan Eden, which are adorned according to the six directions (Chessed, Gevurah, Tiferet, Netzach, Hod, and Yessod—Chagat Nehi). Each direction includes ten, making sixty in total. When this Ruach reaches Gan Eden, all the souls (Ruach and Neshama) in Gan Eden are adorned with this Ruach. A heavenly proclamation calls out and says: “אַשְׁרֵיכֶם יִשְׂרָאֵל, הָעָם הַקָּדוֹשׁ, שֶׁרְצוֹן רִבּוֹנְכֶם מִתְעוֹרֵר אֲלֵיכֶם.” “Fortunate are you, Israel, a holy nation, for the will of your Master has awakened for you!”

The secret of secrets is for those who know wisdom. Fortunate are they when this Ruach is awakened. This Ruach is the expansion of this point, which is Malchut. It emanates from her and spreads throughout the world. And this Ruach is the secret of Shabbat that dwells below. Therefore, it is written: “וְשָׁמְרוּ בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת הַשַּׁבָּת” “And the Children of Israel shall guard the Shabbat” (Exodus 31:16). And it has already been explained: It does not say only “Shabbat,” but rather “Et HaShabbat” (את השבת), which includes this spirit that dwells over all things, and therefore, it must be guarded, because it exists together with the person. Thus, it is written: “כָּל שֹׁמֵר שַׁבָּת מֵחַלְּלוֹ” “Everyone who guards the Shabbat from desecrating it” (Isaiah 56:2).
Notes:
Shabbat is not just a period of time—it is a divine presence that spreads into the world. Malchut expands on Shabbat, and a holy spirit emanates from her, filling creation. The Torah uses the phrase “Et HaShabbat” to teach that we must also guard this spiritual presence, not just the day itself. Proper observance of Shabbat ensures that this divine spirit remains with a person and is not diminished. Desecrating Shabbat is not just about breaking prohibitions—it is about pushing away the divine presence that comes with it.
This teaches that Shabbat is a spiritual reality that transforms the world each week, filling it with holiness. One must actively guard this presence, ensuring that it remains within them through proper observance and spiritual awareness.
