Hebrew translation:

468. אָמְרוּ רַבּוֹתֵינוּ זִכְרוֹנָם לִבְרָכָה, בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁבָּרָא הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא אֶת הָאָדָם, בָּרָא אוֹתוֹ בְּגַן עֵדֶן וְצִוָּה אוֹתוֹ עַל שֶׁבַע מִצְווֹת. חָטָא וְגֹרַשׁ מִגַּן עֵדֶן, וּשְׁנֵי מַלְאֲכֵי שָׁמַיִם, עֲזָ”א וַעֲזָאֵ”ל, אָמְרוּ לִפְנֵי הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא: אִלּוּ הָיִינוּ אָנוּ בָּאָרֶץ, הָיִינוּ צַדִּיקִים. אָמַר לָהֶם הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא: וְכִי אַתֶּם יְכוֹלִים עַל יֵצֶר הָרָע? אָמְרוּ לְפָנָיו: יְכוֹלִים. מִיָּד הִפִּיל אוֹתָם הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא, כְּמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר הַנְּפִלִים הָיוּ בָאָרֶץ, וְכָתוּב הַגִּבֹּרִים. וּבְשָׁעָה שֶׁיָּרְדוּ לָאָרֶץ נִכְנַס בָּהֶם יֵצֶר הָרָע, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר וַיִּקְחוּ לָהֶם נָשִׁים מִכֹּל אֲשֶׁר בָּחָרוּ. חָטְאוּ וְנֶעֶקְרוּ מִקְּדֻשָּׁתָם. ע”כ התוספתא.
469. בֹּא רְאֵה, כָּל הַנְּטִיעוֹת הָיוּ נִסְתָּרִים רְשׁוּמִים דַּקִּיקִים בְּמָקוֹם אֶחָד. אַחַר כָּךְ עָקַר אוֹתָם הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא וְשָׁתַל אוֹתָם בְּמָקוֹם אַחֵר וְהִתְקַיְּמוּ.

Our rabbis of blessed memory said: At the time that the Holy One, blessed be He, created Adam, He created him in the Garden of Eden and commanded him concerning seven commandments (as above, #259). He sinned with the Tree of Knowledge and was driven out from the Garden of Eden. Two angels of heaven, Aza and Azael, said before the Holy One, blessed be He, If we were on earth, we would be righteous.
The Holy One, blessed be He, said to them, Can you overcome the evil inclination that rules on earth? They said before Him, We can. Immediately the Holy One, blessed be He, cast them from heaven to earth, and this is what it says, “הַנְּפִלִים…” “the Nephilim…” (Genesis 6:4). It is written “the mighty ones…” (Genesis 6:4). And at the time that they went down to earth the evil inclination entered into them, as it is said, “וַיִּקְחוּ לָהֶם נָשִׁים” “and they took for themselves wives…” (Genesis 6:2). They sinned and were uprooted from their holiness.
Notes:
Aza and Azael claimed they would remain righteous if placed on earth. Once they descended, the evil inclination entered them; they took wives, sinned, and lost their holiness. This is the secret of the Nephilim.

Come and see, all the plantings, which are the sefirot of Zeir Anpin and Nukva, were closed and fine impressions in one place, that is in the place of Malchut. Afterward the Holy One, blessed be He, uprooted them from there and sent them to another place, that is, into Binah, and then they were established. That is, they attained their Mochin.
Notes:
The sefirot of Zeir Anpin and Nukva first existed only as fine impressions within Malchut. When they were transplanted into Binah, they received their Mochin and became established.

This Friday is **Erev Rosh Hashanah**, a particularly meaningful time to give **Tzedakah**. As we prepare to stand before the Holy One, Blessed be He, and ask to be inscribed for a good and blessed year, we strengthen the qualities of kindness, mercy, and generosity in our own actions.
