Tikkun 2 – 4 (refers to Tikkun 22 and 23)
Abraham corrected the aspect of Idol worship of Adam. God commanded Adam not to connect to the Tree of Knowledge and that would have protected him from the harm of the negative side. Adam fell into the ‘magic’ of the Snake and that was the aspect of idol worshiping.
Deuteronomy 7:25
“ פְּסִילֵי אֱלֹהֵיהֶם, תִּשְׂרְפוּן בָּאֵשׁ”
“The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire”
Abraham was born to a father that was idol worshiper. He was thrown to a fire but kept his faith in God and was safe. With that, he corrected the idol worship aspect of Adam.
Fire is the tool that purifies the soul. When we feel the love in our hearts, it is like fire that wants to spread out. Abraham had the love of God and he spread it out. His tent was open to all directions to welcome any one who wished to feel the light in his tent. He didn’t care about himself and followed God to where he was commanded.
We want to be like Abraham and spread love and light wherever we go. We should take all the negative desires for the self alone and burn them. Only then we can become free from idol worshiping (materials).
We want to be like Isaac, dedicating our body to serve the soul for the purpose of the world correction.
We want to be like Jacob, pure and knowledgeable in all ways of the Torah. This will allow us to draw greater light and protection into our lives.
During the Shofar blowing on Rosh Hashanah we want to focus on removing the impurities we have, related to the three types of sins. They were corrected by Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. If we manage to do so, then we have a clear path to Binah to draw greater light on Yom Kippur to our lives and to have a better year than before.
