Zohar Vayetze
Continued from previous DZ
Rabbi Ashlag in his commentary of this Zohar section reveals that King Solomon wrote three books that explain the three columns of the Tree of Life. The book of Song of Songs explains the Right Column, Chessed. Ecclesiastes explains the Left Column, Gevurah, and Proverbs the Central Column, Tiferet.
Ecclesiastes sees the good and the bad because the Light comes down through the Left Column and to reveal it we need to use Chassadim from the Right Column. That connection of Right and Left makes the correction and creates a root of the voice energy in the Central Column. That voice(s) of Zeir Anpin comes out as ‘vapor’ that means manifested energy of Light. It sustains our world and affects the world around us.
Ecclesiastes 6:2
“a man to whom God gives riches, wealth, and honor, so that he lacks nothing for his soul of all that he desires, yet God gives him no power to eat of it, but an alien eats it. This is vanity, and it is an evil disease.”
Previously, we studied about the seven pure and holy ‘vapors’. This verse brings ‘vapor’ as negative energy. The Zohar explains that parallel to the seven pure vapors, there are seven impure levels with the purpose of punishing and correcting the people.
The verse comes to teach us that all the reaches of a person are temporary. Other people may enjoy it after us. The power of the material, that is the aspect of Left Column, can turn into positive and reveal Light when we bring the power of the Right Column, by doing Chassadim with what we have.
1 Chronicles 29:14 (I suggest reading the entire Chapter)
“וְכִי מִי אֲנִי, וּמִי עַמִּי, כִּי-נַעְצֹר כֹּחַ, לְהִתְנַדֵּב כָּזֹאת: כִּי-מִמְּךָ הַכֹּל, וּמִיָּדְךָ נָתַנּוּ לָךְ.”
“But who am I and who are my people that you enable us to give so generously? Everything comes from you. We give you only what has come from your hands.”
This verse was said by King David when he finished all the preparation for the building of the Holy Temple. He assembled the people and gave thanks to God for giving them the opportunity to be part of the process.
King David brought Chassadim to the entire process by collecting the money from the generosity of people and not by collecting taxes. He dedicated all the efforts to the Light and that gave power to the Holy Temple and kept it strong for 410 years.
When we have the Light in our mind we add Chassadim to every action we take. When we do a Mitzvah (precept, good action) and use L’Shem Yichud* we correct our souls.
Most important to remember is that, in addition to Proverb 3:6 “בְּכָל-דְּרָכֶיךָ דָעֵהוּ; וְהוּא, יְיַשֵּׁר אֹרְחֹתֶיךָ.” “In ALL your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”, we need to add the proper meditation of unifying the light and the vessel.
When we share (Right Column) the gifts we receive (Left Column) from God, we connect the Chasadim to Gevurah, and bring greater ability for long lasting manifestation of our actions.
