Zohar Shemot
Exodus 1:1
“These are the names of the sons of Israel who came to Egypt with Jacob, each with his household:”
The Zohar begins the commentary on the book of Shemot (Exodus) quoting the first verse of the book and portion.
This verse marks the beginning process of the Exile when Jacob and all his sons came down to Egypt.
The Zohar immediately continues with a verse from the prophecy of Daniel (Daniel 12:3) that is related to the end of time and the Resurrection.
Daniel 12:1
““At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book.”
Daniel 12:2
“”Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt.”
Daniel 12:3
“And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”
The ‘time of trouble’ is the hardship that the world will endure before the coming of Mashiach and through the first phase of his revelation. The archangel, Michael, is the protector of the nation of Israel and he will be present to help those who are ‘written in the book’ to escape the ‘troubles’ of that time.
‘The Book’ is the Torah that holds within its letters, words, the connection to the souls of all Israelites. At the time of the Resurrection all of them will come to life but only those who have the merit will have immortality. The rest will fall back to everlasting contempt.
The Zohar explains that the ‘wise’ people are those who are looking for and study the secrets of Chokmah. They will shine with the light that comes from the Garden of Eden.
When we study the secrets of the Torah through the Zohar we gain elevation to Binah that brings to us the light of Chokmah.
We all have the merit of the Daily Zohar that helps many thousands around the world connect to the Zohar everyday. The daily connection purifies and adds light to our vessels. With every study we connect our souls to Torah. At the time of the Resurrection our souls will shine out from the book and come back to immortality as promised by the prophets and the Zohar.
