Daily Zohar # 1964 – Chaye Sarah – Without it we are just cows
.

Zohar Chaye Sarah
I suggest reading 1 Samuel Chapters 1 through 6 before starting this study.
In the book of Samuel we read about a war between the Philistines and the Israelites. The Philistines won the war even after the Israelites brought the Holy Ark into the battlefield expecting God to win the war for them. They lost 30,000 soldiers including the two sons of the High priest. The Holy Ark was also taken by the Philistines.
The Holy Ark was brought into the Philistine’s Temple and was left there for the honor of their God, Dagon. The outcome was devastating for the Philistine. Their God, Dagon, was humiliated and the people of their cities became ill with different diseases.
The Philistines had the Holy Ark for seven months and understood that it would be better to return the Ark to the Israelites before they will all be destroyed.
They made a wagon specifically for that purpose. They took two pure cows, worthy to be sacrificed in the Holy Tabernacle and tied them to the wagon. When the Ark was put on the wagon the cows pulled it toward to Israelites.
The Zohar reveals that the cows were singing the words of Psalms 98.
Psalms 98:1
“מִזְמוֹר, שִׁירוּ לַיהוָה שִׁיר חָדָשׁ כִּי-נִפְלָאוֹת עָשָׂה;
“A Psalm. Oh sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.”
1 Samuel 6:12
“And the cows sang on the way, in the direction of Beth-shemesh; they went along the highway, lowing as they went, and did not turn aside to the right or to the left. And the lords of the Philistines followed them to the border of Beth-shemesh.”
The Zohar reveals that the cows were singing Psalms 98 on the way to the Israelites. When the Ark was removed from the wagon the cows went back to making their natural mooing sounds.
We have many lessons to learn from this study. The first one is that the two sons of the high priest corrupted the spiritual connections and allowed the Philistines to challenge them and win. The priests died in the war.
We can not use the Holy One for our individual purposes when we are not pure. I see people use names for amulets and jewelry. It became a big money making business and unfortunately it’s like idol worshiping. People ‘believe’ in the ‘name’ to bring them benefits and that is very wrong.
We pray to the Light of the Endless, who is for us the Holy One Blessed be He. God reveals himself through different channels but that doesn’t make them holy.
The cows were able to sing like humans when they were tied to the Holy Ark. Without it they were just cows.
