.

Previously we studied that Rabbi Eliezer was about to die and Rabbi Akiva came to him to study secrets before his teacher leaves the world.
Rabbi Eliezer continued teaching Rabbi Akiva, revealing the secrets of 300 ways to follow precepts. He also taught him 216 meanings about the Song of Songs. The eyes of Rabbi Akiva were pouring water and fire came to surround them.
Song of Songs 2:5
“Sustain me with raisin cakes, Refresh me with apples, Because I am lovesick.”
When they were studying the above verse, Rabbi Akiva couldn’t hold himself and burst with a loud cry, fearing to speak because of the presence of the Shechina that was there. Rabbi Eliezer continued teaching deeper secrets from the Song of Songs and made Rabbi Akiva swear that he will not use any of the verses so the Holy One Blessed be won’t destroy the world because of it. The concealed holiness of the Song of Songs is so high that it should not be used.
Rabbi Akiva cried and said woe to the world that will be orphan of you.
Lessons:
Rabbi Akiva, who was the teacher of Rabbi Shimon, was asked about the most elevated verse in the Torah and he quoted Deuteronomy 6:5
“You shall love YHVH your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”
When he asked about the most elevated book of the Bible he said that as the Holy Temple, the Bible is Holy and the Song of Songs is the Holy of Hollies.
The verse he selected is a verse of love and the book is a book of love.
Song of Songs is not a regular book. The name YHVH does not appear even once. It talks about the love and unification between the Endless Light and the Shechina.
Why did Rabbi Akiva tear a lot and why did he cry?
The spiritual aspect of tearing eyes is a connection to the level of Chokmah. Crying loud is when the Light of Chokmah comes down to Zeir Anpin it vibrates the body with the high Light. This story tells us that Rabbi Akiva experienced a very high level of connection with the study that Rabbi Eliezer taught him.
Many people share with me that sometimes they have tears when they scan or study the Zohar. If you have such experience then it means that your heart was open with desire for the Light and your study opened a window to Chokmah.
Pure love has great Light and energy that can take over the body and shake every atom of it. When it is love and desire for the Light, as concealed in the Song of Songs, the Light can wash a lot of impurities from the body and soul.
Song of Songs has 8 chapters that elevate us from Malchut to Binah.
The best time to read Song of Songs is Friday afternoon before Kabbalat Shabbat as a way to prepare the vessel for the unification of the Light of Binah on Shabbat.
Some read the book after the Seder of Passover. Because the Light of Zeir Anpin is in full revelation and we can use the Song of Songs to connect better to it.
I couldn’t find the source of it but there is a recommendation for a person that wishes to find his soul mate to read the Song of Songs every day for forty days without interruption.
The value of reading Song of Songs is great even just for spiritual elevation and getting close to the love and awe of YHVH.
