Zohar Tzav
Continued from previous DZ
The sages teach us that the dining table has the aspect of the Altar in the Holy Temple.
When we bring food to the table we should have the consciousness of appreciation to the gifts that God gives us everyday. The first blessing we do on the break acknowledge that
Please don’t read the following blessing aloud, unless you make the blessing over bread and after proper washing of the hands (Netilat Yadayim).
“Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech haolam,
Hamotzi lechem min haaretz.”
Translated to:
“praise to You, YHVH our God, king of the universe,
Who brings forth bread from the earth”
The 10 word of the blessing make a complete connection to the energy of the food that we are about to eat. After we finished with the meal, we make the blessings that is called ‘Birkat Hamazon’. It has four blessings, connecting us to the YHVH name.
Birkat Hamazon is an important Mitzvah that gives us, men and women alike blessings of sustenance in life. For that reason, we try to make it proper and study Torah and Zohar during the meal to elevate the meal as offering to God.
Besides the Birkat Hamazon, all the different food blessings are important and we should learn all of them by heart.
