Zohar Bamidbar
Jeremiah 46:22
“Her sound moves along like a Snake; For they move on like an army And come to her as woodcutters with axes.”
Rabbi Elazar cried and explained that when Israel is in exile, they follow the snake. His head is on the ground and his tail is higher, ready to hit those who are near by. The ‘tail’ of the snake is the aspect of Malchut, the ground, which is in control when we are in exile, which is the aspect of being far from the Light.
The other nations of the world, are connected to and fed from the ‘tail’. When the Israelites are in exile, the other side is stronger and can inflict pain on them.
Amos 5:2
“She has fallen, she will not rise again– The virgin Israel. She lies neglected on her land; There is none to raise her up.”
‘Falling’ is the aspect of exile. The Zohar (Vayikra 78-81) explains that this verse reveals that we won’t have to rise by ourselves. YHVH will raise us as it is written in Amos 9:11
””In that day I will raise up the fallen Sukkah of David, And wall up its breaches; I will also raise up its ruins And rebuild it as in the days of old;
Lesson:
When we ‘fall’ into depression and distance ourselves from the Light, we allow the forces of the other side to control us. We should raise our head and feel ‘taller’ in Malchut with the Zohar and our elevated spiritual connections. This will let us be raised higher when the time comes.
