Zohar Vayechi

#60
Rabbi Elazar came to ask his father, cried and said; please my father and teacher, reveal to me the secret of the name ‘hand’. Rabbi Shimon says in this Torah verse it will be revealed to you and he quoted (Exodus 17:16)
“saying, “A hand upon the throne of YH! YHVH will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.””
The ‘hand’ on the throne of YHVH is mercy that controls judgment. The verse tells us that the desire is to have the war on Amalek with mercy, like the ‘great hand’ that was in Egypt and not a war with judgment without mercy.
#61
When Mashiach comes it would be with the renewal of the ‘Great hand’ to make war with Amalek. The aspect of mercy would rise over the judgment as it was when we left Egypt.
Exodus 13:3
“Moses said to the people, “Remember this day in which you went out from Egypt, from the house of slavery; for by a strength of hand YHVH brought you out from this place. And nothing leavened shall be eaten.”
It is written ‘by strength of hand’ and not by ‘hand of YHVH’ or the ‘Strong hand’, which is with judgment. The war with Amalek will be with judgment and then Mashiach would come.
The Zohar explains that there will be two wars. The first war with the rise of mercy over the judgment and the second war only with judgment. Then the Redemption would come.
To support Rabbi Shimon’s explanation about two wars, Rabbi Elazar quotes Zechariah 14:3
“Then YHVH will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle.”
The word ‘fight’ appears twice in the verse. The first part/fight with the name YHVH to represent aspect of mercy and the second part without the name to mean judgment without mercy.
#62
The ‘Great hand’,’יד הגדולה’ is from the Right and the ‘Strong hand’, ‘יד החזקה’ is from the Left. The two hands have same letters ‘יד’ and they joined together to take us out of Egypt. As it says ‘by strength YHVH brought us out of Egypt’.
The two words/hands together have the numerical value of ‘כח’, which means ‘force’/’strength’.
