Zohar Balak

#309
Meanwhile, three trees spread their branches to three directions above their heads to give them shade. And spring of water started flowing in front of them. The friends with Rabbi Pinchas and Rabbi Shimon rejoice. Rabbi Pinchas said, it was a great effort for the birds to provide shade at the beginning, and I don’t want to see the exhaustion of animals as it is written; Psalm 145:9 “טוֹב יְהוָה לַכֹּל וְרַחֲמָיו עַל כָּל מַעֲשָׂיו.,” “YHVH is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works.”
Rabbi Shimon answered, I did not make them do that, and if the Holy One Blessed be He treated us with his mercy, sending the birds to make shade for us, we cannot reject his gifts. They sat under the shade of that tree and drank from the water and enjoyed their time together.

Songs 4:15
“מַעְיַן גַּנִּים בְּאֵר מַיִם חַיִּים וְנֹזְלִים מִן לְבָנוֹן.”
“A spring of gardens, A well of living waters, And streams flowing from Lebanon.”
Rabbi Pinchas quoted this verse and asked, doesn’t he have other spring, but from the gardens, for there are some good and precious springs in the world. And he answers, but there are no equal pleasures. A spring goes out in the desert in a dry place; there is pleasure in it for those who sit and drink from it. But spring of gardens, how good and precious it is, that spring, does good to weeds and fruits, whoever approaches it, enjoys it all, enjoys the water, enjoys the grass, enjoys the fruits. That spring is adorned with everything, some roses and some herbs of scent around it; how beautiful is this spring from the other springs. It is a well of living water.

Lesson;
The spring of gardens is Binah, the force of life concealed in the Torah that gives us ‘shade’ that is our protection. Our studies dig ‘wells of living water’ that sustains us. ‘Lebanon,’ ‘לְבָנוֹן’ is another name for the Holy Temple. The root of this word is ‘לבן,’ ‘White’ to tell us that the Holy Temple ‘whitens’ our iniquities and purifies us.
Rabbi Shimon and Rabbi Pinchas merited the miracles of the three trees spreading in three directions to represent a complete connection to the Right, Left, and Center of the Tree of Life. A spring of water came out because they were ‘digging ‘wells of water’ from the Torah that is the Tree of Life to those who hold fast to her.
Proverbs 3:18
“עץ חיים היא למחזיקים בה ותומכיה מאושר:
“The Torah is Tree of Life is for those who cling to her, and her supporters are blessed”
Even if we struggle to understand some Zohar studies, we keep studying because the benefits are beyond what the eyes can see.
