Zohar Ki Tetze
#110
Balaam and Balak were from the root souls of Amalek. Both of them hated the Israelites more than any other nation.
The last two letters of Balaam and the last two letters of Balak form the name ‘עמלק’ ‘Amalek’.
Balaam – בל-עם
Balak – ב-לק
Numbers 23:21
“לֹא הִבִּיט אָוֶן בְּיַעֲקֹב וְלֹא רָאָה עָמָל בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו עִמּוֹ וּתְרוּעַת מֶלֶךְ בּוֹ”
“He has not observed inequity in Jacob; Nor has He seen perverseness in Israel; YHVH his God is with him, And the shout of a king is among them.”
Amalek includes male and female aspects. ‘עָמָל’ ‘toil/labor’ is the male aspect and ‘אָוֶן’ ‘inequity’ is the female aspect.
#111
Similarly, we see that Israel has the aspect of four faces. Jacob and Israel, Rachel and Lea. Israel and Lea are male and female. Jacob and Rachel are also male and female. They are parallel to the four faces of the Eagle of the Holy Throne that represents Jacob and the Central Column.
Amalek have four faces that reveal its essence.
The four are:
‘קסם’ – ‘Magic’. The first letter ‘ק’ is the last letter of ‘עמלק’ ‘Amalek’. The last two ‘סם’ represent ‘Sam-el’ the minister of the negative-side.
‘ונחש’ – ‘Snake’ Sam-el also has four ‘faces’ , ‘toil, snake, inequity and deceitful. They cause us to sin and disconnect from the Holy One Blessed be He.
‘עמל’ – ‘toil’, the first three letters of the name ‘עמלק’ ‘Amalek’. This word also refers to Haman that was from the seed of Amalek. He toiled to ‘hang’ Mordechai and at the end his worked turned against him. Psalms 7:17
“יָשׁוּב עֲמָלוֹ בְרֹאשׁוֹ וְעַל קָדְקֳדוֹ חֲמָסוֹ יֵרֵד”
“His toil/efforts shall return upon his own head, and his violence shall come down upon his own pate.”
‘ואון’ – ‘Inequity’
The chiefs that came of Esau (Genesis 26:40-43) were from the roots of Amalek that on the spiritual level Amalek is Sam-el.
Lesson:
At the beginning of the portion of Ki Tetze we read about our ‘war’ against the negative side. At the end of the portion we read about a time when we will erase all aspects of negativity represented by Amalek.
