Zohar Beshalach
#86
Jonah 2:2,3
“Then Jonah prayed to YHVH his God from the stomach of the fish (‘דגה’),”
“and he said, “I called out of my distress to YHVH, And He answered me. I cried for help from the belly of Sheol; You heard my voice.”
The word for fish is ‘דג’ and when we add the letter ה (of Malchut) at the end of a word, it represents the female aspect.
In the beginning of the story the fish that swallowed Jonah was referred to as male fish ‘דג’. Now Jonah pray from the belly of the fish ‘דגה’, referred to as female fish and in this case a dead fish.
The Zohar quotes the following verse that describes the dead fish in the Nile when God turned all the waters in Egypt into blood.
Exodus 7:21
“And the fish (‘דָּגָה’) in the Nile died, and the Nile stank, so that the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile. There was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.”
The verse says ‘from the belly of Sheol’ to tell us that Jonah felt that he is in a death process that took him to Sheol that is one of the levels of Gehennam (See DZ 2858 https://dailyzohar.com/daily-zohar-2858/).

The Holy One Blessed be He accepted Jonah’s prayer and brought the fish back to life. He then instructed him to vomit Jonah to the dry land for all to see the miracle.

We read ‘Then Jonah prayed to YHVH his God’, ‘his God’ and not just ‘to YHVH’ to tell us that Jonah prayed to the level he was connected spiritually.
The Israelites were in stress when arriving to the red sea and screamed to YHVH that is the aspect of Zeir Anpin. Then YHVH told Moses to connect higher and draw the miracle they needed; Exodus 14:15
“Then YHVH said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the sons of Israel to go forward.”
In Sifra D’tzniuta (End of Zohar Terumah), chapter 4 #55,56, the Zohar explains this verse, revealing that in order to save the Israelites and split the sea, they needed to reveal the Light of Chokmah using the 72 names. The 72 names came out from Exodus 14:19,20,21. These three verses represent the three columns of the Tree of Life. Each name has the aspect of Right, Left and Center that brings balance and ability to draw the Light of Chokmah from the highest level that is called ‘Mazala’.
More about Mazala in DZ 2842 – 2845 https://dailyzohar.com/daily-zohar-2842/

‘Tell the sons of Israel to go forward’ – The Israelites were at the level of Tiferet, central column with YHVH. They needed to connect to Mazala that is higher and for that reason, YHVH ‘pushed’ them to ‘go forward’ to were they can draw miracles.
Lesson;
Connecting to YHVH is a key to receive guidance to where need to go and draw the specific light that we need at any particular time, including miracles.
