Daily Zohar # 3086 – Balak – How to shield yourself from evil eyes
.

Zohar Balak
#133
Numbers 22:5
“So he sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor, at Pethor, which is near the River, in the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying, “Behold, a people came out of Egypt; behold, they cover the surface of the land, and they are living opposite me.”
This Torah verse has 28 words against the 28 levels of magicians and wizards with Zippor, Balak’s father. The Zohar asks the question about why Balak sent messengers to Balaam, describing the problem while it would’ve been better to send gifts and bribes to invite him to come to him and then tell him what he is needed for.
#134
Rabbi Yossei explains that we learn from this approach that by Balak knew that Balaam would like to know the big opportunity that would satisfy his desires to do great evil. By telling him about the big challenge with the Israelites, it would raise his ego and pursue the evil path and curse the Israelites. Balaam was known for his curses that always manifest and a cursing a big nation would be a challenge for him.
#135
Balak with his magic knew that the levels of Moses are high, and Balaam is at the same spiritual level on the negative side. When Balak realized that, he immediately sent messengers to Balaam that he saw as a match against Moses.
Lesson;
Balaam was Pharaoh’s advisor and supported his desire to kill the boys of the Israelites. Here God gives Balaam the opportunity to correct his first evil and reject Balak’s offer but he failed.
Balaam had the strongest evil eye, but he couldn’t curse the Israelites because of the protection that they had with the Torah and the Holy Tabernacle in the middle of their camps. Laban was as evil as Balaam but couldn’t have control over Jacob because Jacob was always with the Torah.
While Balak was a greater magician that Balaam when using objects of this world, Balaam had the advantage of cursing with his evil eyes because of his spiritual level (Zohar Bechukotai #5, #6).
Some people use objects like crystals, pieces of jewelry with names and red string for protection against evil-eyes and other ‘external’ negativities, but it doesn’t help more than ‘Placebo’. It can make the person feel ‘protected’ until it hits him. ONLY positive spiritual force that is Light can deter and remove the negative spiritual force that is darkness. Balak had the powers to make magic against the Israelites but he knows that he needs the spiritual force of Balaam to have some control over the Israelites. As we know the darkness on Balaam could work on other people and nations without the Light of the Torah, but not over the Israelites that have YHVH with them.
The Zohar study creates a force field that shields us from external negativity.
The Daily Zohar is your shield not because it’s available for free online but because you choose to study it and make it part of your life.
