Zohar Vayigash

Genesis 45:16
“Now the voice of it was heard in Pharaoh’s house, saying, “Joseph’s brothers have come.” So it pleased Pharaoh and his servants well.”

The Zohar raises questions; what is the point if the prayer is not the sound that is heard, and the sound that is heard is not a prayer? What is prayer? Is it another voice that depends on the sound that is heard? What is the voice that is heard? And answers that the sound that is heard is ‘קוֹל’ with the letter Vav וא”ו in the middle, and the voice that depends on it is ‘קֹל’ without Vav וא”ו.
The voice ‘קוֹל’ that is not heard is the secret of Chassadim concealed by the Light illuminated from Chokmah, and it is the voice of Binah.
The voice that is heard is the secret of revealed Chassadim with the Light of Chokmah, and the secret of Zeir Anpin that reveals the Light of Chokmah within itself.
Another aspect is the Nukva that is a voice that is not heard when it has Chokmah without Chassadim. Because Chokmah cannot illuminate without Chassadim, the voice is silent, and it is the silent prayer (Amida). Here it is called ‘קֹל’ (voice) without Vav וא”ו. The Vav is the aspect of Zeir Anpin that provides Chassadim to the Nukva.

1 Samuel 1:13
“Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk.”
Hannah prayed in the Holy Tabernacle to God from the depth of her heart. She didn’t make a sound, only moved her lips. Her silent prayer created a unification with Zeir Anpin, and the Holy One Blessed be He accepted her prayer and gave her the child she was praying for.
Hannah’s prayer is an example for us on how to pray from a pure heart and with non-selfish desires.

Rabbi Elazar says that the silent voice is supernal and is a voice from Binah. It is above all other voices that come out of there. The voice that is ‘קֹל’ without Vav וא”ו is from Nukva that elevates itself to the Vav, Zeir Anpin, and connect to it to receive Chassadim as explained above.
