Zohar Balak

#280
Job 12:20
“He deprives the trusted ones of speech, And takes away the discernment of the elders.”
Genesis 11:7
“Come, let Us go down and confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another’s speech.”

Balak didn’t know that the Holy One Blessed be He deprived people of their speech and everything was under his control. He confused the language of the generation of the Tower of Babel, and scattered them all over the world, ‘דור הַפְּלַגָּה’. When God removed the power of the language then couldn’t have spiritual power to control the world.

The ‘elders’ are Balaam and Balak that Hashem took away their discernment ability when they came against Israel.

#281
Balaam was wicked and all his actions were evil and with arrogance. Both brought sacrifices as we read in Numbers 23:2
“And Balak did just as Balaam had spoken, and Balak and Balaam offered a bull and a ram on each altar.”
Balaam praised himself for preparing seven altars with sacrifices while ignoring Balak’s participation in the process. The Holy One Blessed be He, knows everything and he took the power of speaking from Balaam, and let the Shechinah ‘כֹה’ speak through him.
Numbers 23:16
“Then YHVH met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, “Go back to Balak, and thus you (כֹה) shall speak.
This is what the verse above says “And takes away the discernment of the elders” (Job 12:20).

Lesson;
Arrogance and any ego related expression is darkness because Hashem gives us the power to do everything. If we do not acknowledge that fact we invite a correction. Balaam lost the power of his speech because of his arrogance. Hashm let Shechina speak through him and eliminate his power.
Because of that reason, the sages taught us different blessings for everything that we do, receive, consume, etc. The blessing elevates the connection to our action and guarantees that we draw the Light from the food and or the action.
When we do not know the actual blessing then we just have the consciousness that everything is given to us from God. On the other hand we should not make blessings for no reason or repeat blessings on something that we already made a connection to. It is good to learn the different blessings of food. Nowadays we have genetically modified food, processed with chemicals, and other negative elements in the food. The blessings neutralize the negative aspects of food and actions.
Before we start our day job we meditate and give thanks to Hashem for providing us sustenance. The same with a business owner, before he starts the day, he acknowledge that Hashem is in control and can open for him the proper channels of income and sustenance.

Friday would be a good day to make a ** Donation, especially if you didn’t donate in the past week. Giving on Friday, which is an aspect of Yessod, expands the vessel for the Light and honor of Shabbat.
** Your donation doesn’t have to be given to the same place every week. You can alternate or split your donation among those who benefit you spiritually.
