When a person who studies the Torah passes away, the Torah he studied walks ahead of him and pushes away judgments that want to come close to him and claim debts. When the body rests in the grave, she protects him. When the soul walks to its place, the Torah walks ahead of the soul and breaks open many gates until the soul reaches its place. The Torah stays with him until the time of the Resurrection of the dead and speaks in his favor.

Proverbs 6:22
“בְּהִתְהַלֶּכְךָ תַּנְחֶה אֹתָךְ בְּשָׁכְבְּךָ תִּשְׁמֹר עָלֶיךָ וַהֲקִיצוֹתָ הִיא תְשִׂיחֶךָ.”
“When you walk, she will guide you; When you lie down, she will watch over you; And when you awake, she will talk to you.”
“When you walk” is the guidance that the soul receives at the time of death from his Torah studies.
“When you lie down” is when the Torah protects the body that lies down and goes through the judgment process in the grave.
“when you awake” is when the soul awakens to life at the time of the Resurrection. “She will talk” is the talk that the Torah studies would speak in favor of the soul.
