#193
Rabbi Rabbi, when we flew away from you, we went in and saw all the members of the Yeshiva, who were gathering in a large hall, where the Mashiach was there, and we discussed the judgment of the same person who stood at the entrance of the Garden of Eden. We have no permission to reveal his name. Rabbi Shimon was in sorrow for this. He said to him, do not regret, Rabbi Shimon, for you will know this at night in your dream. The Mashiach decreed the judgment that the person should be out in sorrow for forty days, and after that, he will experience pain in Gehennam for an hour and a half.

#194
All this is because one day, one of the friends was interpreting the words of the Torah; when he came to explain one thing, the person knew he would be wrong and said to the friends, be silent, do not say anything. The friends were silent and let him feel shame for failing to explain the Torah properly. For the pain which that man caused him, he was judged harshly. The Holy One, Blessed be He, does not want to leave a sin related to the Torah uncorrected, even for tiny things.

Lesson;
The painful correction process was done to the man who allowed his friend to make mistakes in studying the Torah. Standing at the Garden of Eden entrance without going in brings pain to the soul that can see the beauty inside but can’t go in. This punishment was for seeing a person about to make mistakes but staying quiet and asking his friends to be silent. He could’ve gotten into the Garden of Eden but was ashamed to be seen by the righteous inside without the ability to come in. Then he had to endure additional pain in Gehennam to ‘burn’ that sin from his soul.
The Torah reveals the Light of Hashem, and we need to support the Torah in all aspects because it is the ‘tool’ that delivers life to the world.
Proverbs 3:18
“עץ חיים היא למחזיקים בה ותומכיה מאושר:
“The Torah is the Tree of Life for those who cling to her, and her supporters are blessed.”
