Daily Zohar 4143

Rabbi Yehuda and Rabbi Yitzchak went to Rabbi Shimon; they found him engaged in studying the Torah. Rabbi Shimon raised his eyes and saw Rabbi Yitzchak, with the angel of death, running and dancing before him. Rabbi Shimon stood up, held Rabbi Yitzchak’s hand, and said, I decree, whoever is used to come to me regularly will enter, and whoever is not used to come to me will not enter! Rabbi Yitzchak and Rabbi Yehuda came in. Because of the words of Rabbi Shimon, the angel of death was bound outside and could not enter.
Rabbi Yehuda and Rabbi Yitzchak went to Rabbi Shimon to use the time Rabbi Yitzchak had to study the Torah with their master. They didn’t have any expectations of what would come after.
Rabbi Shimon looked and saw that the time for Rabbi Yitzchak to die was in the eighth hour of the day. They sat before Rabbi Shimon and engaged with him in the Torah; Rabbi Shimon said to Rabbi Elazar, his son, sit in the doorway, and do not speak to whoever you see, and if he wants to enter here, swear an oath that he will not enter.
Rabbi Yitzchak noticed that his Tzelem had disappeared and knew his time to die was near. Rabbi Shimon was on a higher level and could see the angel of death and Rabbi Yitzchak’s exact time of death. Rabbi Elazar was close to his father and could keep the angel of death outside their place of study. Rabbi Shimon did not waste time and immediately sat with his students to study the Torah before he asked Hashem for Rabbi Yitzchak.
