#152
Rabbi Abba the Elder stood on his feet and said, “May rest and peace be unto your bones, Rabbi Shimon, for you have restored the crown to its old glory. For we have learned in the first baraita that when the soul is in its completeness in the upper realm, it does not return to the body, but other souls are created from it that go forth from it. This opinion remained until Rabbi Shimon ben Yochai came and expounded, and if in this world which is vanity, and the body which is a putrid drop, that soul enters into it – in the world to come, when they will all be refined. The body will be chosen in perpetuity and with additional perfection; is it not just that that soul should enter into it with all its completions and her levels of elevation?”
#153
Rabbi Acha said, “That very soul with all its merits and elevations, and that very body indeed, the Holy One, blessed be He, is destined to establish them in their state of existence in the world to come. But both of them will be complete with the added knowledge to comprehend what they did not attain in this world.
