Exodus 20:2
“אָנֹכִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר הוֹצֵאתִיךָ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם מִבֵּית עֲבָדִים לֹא יִהְיֶה לְךָ אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים עַל פָּנָי.”
“I am YHVH, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and the house of bondage.”
This verse is similar to what is written,
Genesis 1:6
“וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים יְהִי רָקִיעַ בְּתוֹךְ הַמָּיִם וִיהִי מַבְדִּיל בֵּין מַיִם לָמָיִם.”
“Then God said, “Let there be a firmament amid the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”
‘Let there be a firmament’ means Israel, who are a part of the Holy One, Blessed be He, shall unite in that place called heaven, which is Zeir Anpin. Rabbi Yissa Saba once asked Rabbi Elai, ‘Since the Holy One, Blessed be He, has given the other nations to be ruled by ministers, where did He place Israel?’ He answered him,
Genesis 1:17
“וַיִּתֵּן אֹתָם אֱלֹהִים בִּרְקִיעַ הַשָּׁמָיִם לְהָאִיר עַל הָאָרֶץ.”
“God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth,”
It was a good answer because Israel are united in the heavens, which are Zeir Anpin.

“In the midst of the waters,” that is, within the words of the Torah, for the Torah is called ‘water.’ And “let it divide the waters from the waters” is between the Holy One, Blessed be He, who is called “בְּאֵר מַיִם חַיִּים” “the well of living waters,” and between idol worship, which is called “בֹּארֹת נִשְׁבָּרִים” “broken cisterns” that cannot hold water. These are bitter waters, murky waters, foul-smelling, and polluted. Therefore, the holy ones of Israel distinguish between water and water. Between the Holy One, Blessed be He, and idol worship. This verse is similar to the first commandment, where it is written, ‘You shall have no other gods before Me.'”
