Furthermore, Rabbi Shimon quotes;
Genesis 27:11
“And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau, my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:”
What does this imply? Certainly, Esau is a hairy man; he is from that which is called hairy (שָׂעִר), which is the Other Side (Sitra Achra) because he comes from that side. And I am a smooth (חלק, root for ‘share’) man, that is, a man who receives share from what was given to the other nations, to their ministers and their appointed ones, as it is written,
Deuteronomy 4:19
“And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the LORD your God has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage.”
And it is written,
Deuteronomy 32:9
“For the YHVH’s portion is His people; Jacob is the allotment of His inheritance.”
Furthermore, a smooth (חלק) man, that is, a share from the two goats that were divided and one remained, the priest divided them, one for the portion of Jacob and one for the Holy One, Blessed be He. Why? So that the goat may bear on its shoulders all the sins of Jacob, as it is written,
Leviticus 16:22
“The goat shall bear on itself all their iniquities to an uninhabited land, and he shall release the goat in the wilderness.”
“Iniquities” and “עֲוֹנֹתָם” are the letters of ‘complete sins.’ “עֲוֹנֹת תָּם,” that is, the sons of Jacob, who is called “תָּם” a perfect man.
