Zohar Emor
Continued from previous DZ
#291
Rabbi Aba opened by quoting this verse,
Psalm 32:11
“שִׂמְחוּ בַיהוָה וְגִילוּ צַדִּיקִים וְהַרְנִינוּ כָּל יִשְׁרֵי לֵב”
“Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!”
And it is written;
Psalm 118:24
“זֶה הַיּוֹם עָשָׂה יְהוָה נָגִילָה וְנִשְׂמְחָה בוֹ”
“This is the day YHVH has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
It has been explained that in relation to the Holy One, Blessed be He, one must rejoice and express positivity, and a person finds joy because this joy belongs to the Holy One, Blessed be He. It is written, “Let us rejoice and be glad in Him.” “In Him” refers to the day YHVH has made. “In Him” refers to the Holy One, Blessed be He. And it is all one thing.
#292
“Be glad in the LORD and rejoice” means that when the judgments are calmed, and mercies are awakened, and when the mercies arise, then “rejoice, Tzadikim,” referring to Tzaddik and Tzedek, which are Yessod and Malchut, are blessed together. They are called Tzadikim, as we have learned, because they are blessed to bestow upon the worlds and bring joy to all the worlds. And “וְהַרְנִינוּ כָּל יִשְׁרֵי לֵב” “let the upright in heart rejoice,” these are the children of faith, who are connected with them, with Yessod and Malchut.

In every matter, a physical action below is necessary to awaken a response above. Come and see, those who say that actions or words are not needed to make a sound to awaken reaction in the heavens, may their soul leave their bodies. This portion proves it in the lighting of the candelabra and the burning of the incense (Ketoret), as it is written, “שֶׁמֶן וּקְטֹרֶת יְשַׂמַּח לֵב” “Oil and incense make the heart glad,” because through the act of lighting the candles and offering incense below, there is light and joy both above and below, and a proper connection between Chokmah and Binah. Oil arouses Chokmah, and incense evokes Binah.
Rabbi Yehuda says that the altar below awakens another altar, which is Malchut. A priest below awakens away another priest, who is chessed. For by the action below, an action above is made.
Friday would be a good day to make a ** Donation, especially if you didn’t donate in the past week. Giving on Friday, which is an aspect of Yessod, expands the vessel for the Light and honor of Shabbat.
** Your donation doesn’t have to be given to the same place every week. You can alternate or split your donation among those who benefit you spiritually.
