Zohar Vayikra
Continued from previous DZ
#267
And this is in the final exile: the Holy One, blessed be He, is like this cedar that delays in flowering and ascending. And from the moment he ascends until he stands in his existence — that is, until the redemption comes — it is one day, that is, one day of the Holy One, blessed be He, which is one thousand years, and the beginning of the second day, until he makes shade in the light of the day — that is, after half the day when the sun begins to set — which is, in the day of the Holy One, blessed be He, after five hundred years. And after one thousand five hundred years, the redemption will come.
And a cedar rises only with the delicates of waters, as it is written: “כָּאֲרָזִים עֲלֵי מָיִם” “like cedars beside the waters” (Numbers 24:6). So too “כַּאֲרָז בַּלְּבָנוֹן יִשְׂגֶּא” “as a cedar in Lebanon he shall grow tall” — for from there, from Lebanon, which is Chokhmah, issues a spring and a river of waters, which is Binah, to water the cedar. And this cedar is the Holy One, blessed be He — that is, Zeir Anpin — who receives the watering, as it is written: “בָּחוּר כָּאֲרָזִים” “choice as the cedars” (Song of Songs 5:15).

“שְׁתוּלִים בְּבֵית יְהוָה” “Planted in the house of YHVH” (Psalms 92:14) — this is for the time of King Mashiach. “בְּחַצְרוֹת אֱלֹהֵינוּ יַפְרִיחוּ” “In the courts of our God they shall flourish” (Psalms 92:14) — this is at the resurrection of the dead. “עוֹד יְנוּבוּן בְּשֵׂיבָה” “They shall still bring forth fruit in old age” (Psalms 92:15) — this is on that day when the world will be desolate, that is, in the seventh millennium. “דְּשֵׁנִים וְרַעֲנַנִּים יִהְיוּ” “They shall be fat and flourishing” (Psalms 92:15) — this is afterward, when the world will be rebuilt, as it is written: “הַשָּׁמַיִם הַחֲדָשִׁים וְהָאָרֶץ הַחֲדָשָׁה” “The new heavens and the new earth” (Isaiah 66:22). And then: “יִשְׂמַח יְהוָה בְּמַעֲשָׂיו” “YHVH shall rejoice in His works” (Psalms 104:31) is written.
And all this is for what? It is “to declare that YHVH is upright, my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him” (Psalms 92:16).
Notes:
The Zohar interprets the second half of Psalms 92:13–16 as a prophetic timeline of the final redemption:
“As a cedar in Lebanon he shall grow tall” alludes to the long delay of the final exile, compared to the slow growth of the cedar. Redemption will come after 1,500 years of the “day of Hashem” (1,000 + 500 years), when Zeir Anpin (the cedar) ascends to Chokhmah (Lebanon), watered by the river from Binah.
“Planted in the house of YHVH” refers to the era of Mashiach.
“In the courts of our God they shall flourish” refers to the resurrection of the dead.
“They shall still bring forth fruit in old age” refers to the seventh millennium, when the world is ready to be rebuilt.
“They shall be fat and flourishing” refers to the subsequent rebuilding of the new heavens and new earth.
All of this serves to declare the perfect uprightness and justice of YHVH — that, despite the long exile and apparent delay, there is no unrighteousness in Him. The entire process ultimately reveals divine perfection and brings joy to Hashem in His works.
#269
He opened again and said: “אִישׁ תַּהְפֻּכוֹת יְשַׁלַּח מָדוֹן וְנִרְגָּן מַפְרִיד אַלּוּף” “A man of perverse heart sends forth strife (מָדוֹן, madon), and a whisperer separates a chief” (Proverbs 16:28).
“A man of perverse heart sends forth strife” — this is as we have said, that the wicked cause a defect above. “Madon” means defect/damage.
“And a whisperer separates a chief” — that is, he separates the Chief of the world, which is the Holy One, blessed be He.
Notes:
The Zohar interprets Proverbs 16:28 as referring to the spiritual damage caused by the wicked. “A man of perverse heart” (the wicked) sends forth “madon” — strife that creates a defect in the upper worlds. The “whisperer” (one who slanders or speaks divisively) causes an even greater harm: he separates “אַלּוּף” — the Chief/Leader of the world, which is the Holy One, blessed be He — from His proper union with the Shekhinah/Malchut.
This teaches that sin, especially harmful speech and perverse behavior, not only affects the lower world but actively damages the divine structure above by creating separation between the masculine and feminine aspects of the Godhead. The verse thus serves as a severe warning about the cosmic consequences of wickedness and the power of the tongue to disrupt supernal harmony.
