Daily Zohar # 5131 – Vayikra – I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud
Daily Zohar 5131

#274
The Faithful Shepherd — that is, Moshe our teacher — said: There are places in Gehinnom designated for those who publicly desecrate Shabbat and did not return in teshuvah from that desecration. And there are appointed ones over them.
Likewise, there are places in Gehinnom for those who uncover nakedness (commit sexual transgressions), and for those who reveal the sides of the Torah not in accordance with the halakhah, and for those who shed innocent blood, and for those who swear falsely, and for those who lie with a niddah, or with the daughter of a foreigner, or a prostitute, or a maidservant. And also for one who transgresses the 365 negative commandments.
#275
For every sin there is a place in Gehinnom, and there is an appointed one over it. And the Satan, who is his evil inclination, is appointed over all the sins and the places and the appointed ones over them.
But if he returns in teshuvah, what is written? “מָחִיתִי כָעָב פְּשָׁעֶיךָ” “I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud” (Isaiah 44:22). The records of every single sin of the wicked are erased from their places in Gehinnom.
Notes:
The Faithful Shepherd (Moshe Rabbeinu) reveals the severe spiritual consequences of certain grave sins. Specific sections of Gehinnom are reserved for public Shabbat desecration, sexual immorality (including relations with a niddah, gentile woman, prostitute, or maidservant), distorting Torah, shedding innocent blood, false oaths, and violating the 365 ‘you shall not do…’ commandments. Each sin has its own designated place and overseer, with the Sat-n (the evil inclination) ruling over the entire system.
However, genuine teshuvah has the power to erase these records completely. Through repentance, the “clouds” of transgression are blotted out, and the marks of sin are removed from Gehinnom. This teaches both the gravity of these transgressions and the immense redemptive power of teshuvah, which can nullify even the harshest heavenly judgments and punishments.
