Zohar Vayikra

#386
We have learned: A maidservant (שִׁפְחָה) saw at the sea what the prophet Ezekiel did not see. And if the maidservants attained so much, the wives of Israel all the more so, and their sons all the more so, and the men all the more so, and the Sanhedrin all the more so, and the princes (הַנְּשִׂיאִים) all the more so, and all the more so the supernal faithful prophet Moses, who is above them all.
And now, these merchants in the desert were uttering such wisdom, all the more so the sages of the generation, and all the more so those who are found before Rabbi Shimon and learn from him every day. And all the more so, and all the more so, Rabbi Shimon himself, who is above them all.
Notes:
The Zohar uses the splitting of the Red Sea as the ultimate benchmark of revelation. Even the lowliest maidservants witnessed divine visions greater than those later granted to the prophet Ezekiel. This creates a clear hierarchy of spiritual attainment at that moment — from the maidservants upward to Moses, who stood above them all.
The sages then apply the same logic to their own time: if simple merchants traveling in the desert could utter such profound words of Torah, how much greater must be the wisdom of the sages of the generation, those who study daily in the presence of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, and Rabbi Shimon himself, who towers above everyone. This teaches both the immense spiritual potential latent in every Jew and the extraordinary level of revelation available in the presence of a true tzaddik like Rabbi Shimon.
