Daily Zohar # 5261 – beresheet-b – Setting up the flow of light from the upper to the lower
Daily Zohar 5261

Mazal Tov,
We begin studying the second volume of Beresheet from Zohar Hasulam.
Zohar Beresheet-b
Rabbi Shimon said, We have learned that at the time the Holy One, blessed be He, created the world, He engraved engravings of the secret of Faith, that is, of Malchut, within the lights in the upper secrets. That is, He raised Malchut to Binah, and engraved in the upper sefirot of Binah the same engraving that was in Malchut. This is the secret of joining the attribute of mercy of Binah with the judgment of Malchut, which the Emanator made for the need of building the world, as above in every place. And He engraved above, in Binah, and He engraved below in Malchut. And all is one secret. That is, the two engravings He made were in one form: that of Binah. And He made the lower world, that is Malchut, like the upper world, Binah. And He made them opposite each other equally, so that both would be one and would rise in one unification.
The explanation of the words: For the lower ones, whose root is Malchut, which is the attribute of judgment that was contracted not to receive into herself the upper light, are found because of this not fit to receive the upper light, like their root, which is Malchut. Therefore, the lower ones could not exist or reach the purpose for which they were created. Therefore, the Holy One, blessed be He, joined the attribute of mercy, which is Binah, with the attribute of judgment that is in Malchut. That is, He raised Malchut into Binah, and Malchut was engraved like the attribute of Binah, that is, she attained a vessel to receive the upper light, like Binah. And after Malchut was joined with Binah, He created from her all the lower ones, and by this the lower ones are found fit to receive all the upper Mochin.
And this is what it says: that He made the lower world, that is Malchut, like the upper world which is Binah, and Malchut was made fit to receive the upper light like Binah. This stands opposite that equally. That is, when Binah is in smallness, Malchut is also found in smallness for her sake; and when Binah returns to her greatness, Malchut also attains greatness like her, for both were corrected so that they would be one in one unification. And after Malchut was corrected like Binah, the soul of Adam, the first man, and all the lower ones went out from her, and they too are found fit to receive all the lights that are in Binah, as will be written before us.
Notes:
The world could stand only after Malchut was raised into Binah and engraved in her form (the letter ה). Judgment was joined with mercy, so Malchut became a vessel for upper light. Then the lower worlds and the soul of Adam could receive the Mochin of Binah.
#2
And come and see, in this manner that the Holy One, blessed be He, created the world, that is, with the joining of the attribute of mercy of Binah as above, so the Holy One, blessed be He, created the soul of Adam, the first man. That is, Adam’s soul also received that joining of the attribute of mercy with which the world, which is Malchut, was created. And therefore he too attained all the upper lights that are in Binah, like Malchut, as the Zohar explains before us.
The Holy One, blessed be He, crowned Adam with upper crowns, that is, with the Mochin of the three upper ones, and created him with the six extremities of the world, that is, the Mochin of the six extremities, so that he would be complete in all. All creatures trembled and feared before him, for when Adam, the first man, was created, he was created in an upper form, and the creatures looked at that form and trembled and feared before him.
Notes:
Adam’s soul was made with the same joining of Binah’s mercy that built Malchut. He received both the Mochin of the three upper ones and the six extremities, and his form was so high that all creatures feared him.
