“Thou openest Thy hand, and satisfiest every living thing with favour.”
Rabbi Shimon said that those who recite Psalms 145 three times a day merits the world to come.
This Psalm appears twice in the morning Prayer and once in the afternoon prayer. Twice for drawing sustenance and nourishments to the world and once more to amplify the channel that opens his hands.
The hands are the aspect of the right and left column. They are in lack of light because the right column doesn’t have the upper three Sefirot. The left column comes from Chokmah where the light is concealed and can be revealed only with Chassadim. When the hands open (acts of sharing) then the central column is formed to unify the right and the left and draw down the light of sustenance.
The channel for sustenance opens when we give from what we have. Charity, Tithing and Tzedaka. We can not ask God to provide for our sustenance if we don’t try ourselves to open the channels and share what we have. This is the principal of affinity that brings the light into our lives. For some people it is very hard to give but they should make the effort by giving small amounts and gradually increase to 10% and more.
Psalms 145:16
“he eyes of all wait for Thee, and Thou givest them their food in due season.”
The key to drawing sustenance is explained in the following verse.
Psalms 145:18
“YHVH is close unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth.”
Only when a person prays with truth that is also the aspect of the central column, he merits the sustenance he deserves.
