Pinchas 854-855

Exodus 31:16
“וְשָׁמְרוּ בְנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל, אֶת-הַשַּׁבָּת, לַעֲשׂוֹת אֶת-הַשַּׁבָּת לְדֹרֹתָם, בְּרִית עוֹלָם”
“Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.”

The tenth special precept is the Shabbat. The Shechina is called Shabbat from the aspect of the upper three ‘crowns’, Keter, Chokmah and Binah. They are represented by the first letter ש from the word שבת Shabbat. The other two letters spell בת, ‘daughter’. The Shechina is daughter to the upper three. Keter is the Light source, Chokmah is the father and Binah is the mother.

Psalms 89:3
“כִּי-אָמַרְתִּי–עוֹלָם, חֶסֶד יִבָּנֶה; שָׁמַיִם, תָּכִן אֱמוּנָתְךָ בָהֶם”
“For I have said: ‘For the world in mercy (Chessed) will be built; in heavens you establish your faithfulness”

The process of work in this word begins with the Sefirah of Chessed. The six Sefirot from Chessed to Yessod are represented by the six days of the week. Shabbat is Malchut and the place where we receive the light we ‘earn’ during the work process. Since the upper three Sefirot are not part of the correction process they are in resting state. It means no time and space. On Shabbat we arrive to a point in the weekly cycle that gives us opportunity to tap into the upper light. It is achieved by ‘resting’ from the work that we do during the week. Taking a quick look into the prayer book for Shabbat reveals that the word for rest מנוחה appears many times.

The Zohar is a pure connection to the upper three Sefirot and Shabbat is the best time to read and study Zohar. Kabbalists say that one minute on Shabbat is worth thousand times more than during the week. We should remember that the light we receive is based on the size and purity of the vessel we built during the week so we have to study Zohar everyday and double the study on Shabbat.

The eleventh special precept is the prayers of morning, afternoon and night. There are channels created by the three patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The prayer words that we utter from our mouth make the connection between upper and lower levels. Mouth, פה, is numerically 85, same as מילה, ‘word’ and ‘circumcision’. They make connection to the level of Yessod where male and female unite. Yessod is called חי, ‘life’, numerically 18. We have 18 blessings in the ‘Amida’, which is the silent standing prayer. We repeat that three times a day and make a connection on the upper level like a groom is unified with the bride.
Proverbs 10:6 “בְּרָכוֹת, לְרֹאשׁ צַדִּיק”, “Blessings are upon the head of the righteous”
Mouth is the aspect of Malchut and the tongue is the aspect of Yessod. Every word we say is a unification of light (thought) and vessel (word). The Holy Ari teaches us that every word we utter from our mouth creates an angel with power to manifest the word. If it’s negative it could hurt us but if it’s sacred like words of prayers and Zohar, then it can support and elevate us.
