Zohar Mishpatim – 2
אדם Adam has the initials (Hebrew name) of
אדם – דוד – משיח
Adam – David – Mashiach
Adam was born immortal and after the sin he was given only 1000 years to live.
Genesis 5:5
“וַיִּהְיוּ כָּל-יְמֵי אָדָם, אֲשֶׁר-חַי, תְּשַׁע מֵאוֹת שָׁנָה, וּשְׁלֹשִׁים שָׁנָה; וַיָּמֹת”
“And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died”
The Torah tells us that he lived only 930 years so we have 70 years to look for. The sages revealed to us that Adam gave 70 years of his life to King David that was supposed to live only three hours. Adam knew that King David would be part of his reincarnation and he projected from his life to the future. It was significant because king David became the aspect of the Sefirah of Malchut to complete the 10 Sefirot in the world of Malchut.
King David became the seed of Mashiach that will bring immortality again to the world, and that will complete the correction of Adam and thus the entire world.
David asked the Creator to tell him the number of his days and God told him only that he would die on Shabbat. King David used to study Torah the entire Shabbat to block the angel of death from reaching him. On the last Shabbat of David’s life, the angel of death came and could not take his soul because the king didn’t stop his mouth from the study. Shabbat was already over and the angel of death couldn’t break through the Light to take David’s soul. He had to resort to ‘dirty’ tricks, so he made noise behind the house. King David came out to see what was going on while keeping words of Torah on his mouth. Only when one stair broke under his foot and interrupted his study the angel of death could take his soul.
King David lived half a day extra because he kept continuous study. Even though God sent the angel of death to retrieve his soul, the word of Torah had the power of immortality and pushed away death.
The Zohar tells us the story of Rabbi Shimon that sent away the angel of death that was after Rabbi Yitzchak, his student. Rabbi Shimon accepted his student under his garments of Light and protected him from death. Rabbi Yitzchak left the world on the same day Rabbi Shimon did.
With daily study of Zohar we receive Light that pushes away judgments. It gives us from the Light of immortality that the Zohar reveals from the Torah.
Proverb 3:18
“עֵץ-חַיִּים הִיא, לַמַּחֲזִיקִים בָּהּ; וְתֹמְכֶיהָ מְאֻשָּׁר”
“She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: And happy is every one that retained her.”
