Zohar Lech Lecha
#91
The Torah says that Abram ‘went in pursuit as far as Dan’ (Genesis 14:14) to teach us that he chased the wicked and taught them the laws of good and bad, the rewards in the world to come and the punishment of hell. He worked tirelessly day and night until he brought them back to do Teshuva and come close to the Holy One Blessed be Him.
Abram was successful as the following verse says “He brought back all the goods”.
Genesis 14:16
“He brought back all the goods, and also brought back his relative Lot with his possessions, and also the women, and the people.”
#92
Abram also “brought back his relative Lot”. Lot is the aspect of the evil inclination and Abram forced him to follow the positive path with him. Abram went after each inequity that they do and forced them to correct and repent immediately and properly.
Lesson;
We fight the evil inclination day and night. He pushes us toward negative actions and we must not rest until we push him away and repent immediately for each negative action we did.
