Hebrew translation:

35. שֶׁשָּׁנִינוּ, רָצָה הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא שֶׁיִּמָּצְאוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּאוֹתָהּ שָׁעָה כְּמוֹ מַלְאָכִים עֶלְיוֹנִים וְלַעֲשׂוֹת אוֹתָם חוֹרִין מֵהַכֹּל, בְּנֵי חֵרוּת מִמָּוֶת, וְלִהְיוֹת בְּנֵי חוֹרִין מִשִּׁעְבּוּד שֶׁל שְׁאָר הָעַמִּים, כְּמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (שמות לב) חָרוּת עַל הַלֻּחֹת. אַל תִּקְרֵי חָרוּת אֶלָּא חֵרוּת.
36. כֵּיוָן שֶׁנַּעֲשָׂה אוֹתוֹ מַעֲשֶׂה – גָּרְמוּ הַכֹּל. גָּרְמוּ מָוֶת, גָּרְמוּ שִׁעְבּוּד מַלְכֻיּוֹת, גָּרְמוּ שֶׁנִּשְׁבְּרוּ אוֹתָם לוּחוֹת רִאשׁוֹנִים, גָּרְמוּ שֶׁמֵּתוּ מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל כַּמָּה אֲלָפִים מֵהֶם. וְכָל זֶה מִשּׁוּם הַהִתְחַבְּרוּת שֶׁל אוֹתָם עֵרֶב רַב שֶׁהִתְחַבְּרוּ בָהֶם.
37. אַף כָּאן בִּגְלָלָם לֹא נִקְרְאוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, וְלֹא יִשְׂרָאֵל, וְלֹא עַמִּי, אֶלָּא הָעָם סְתָם. וְאִם תֹּאמַר, וַחֲמֻשִׁים עָלוּ בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל? כְּשֶׁהָיוּ עוֹלִים מִמִּצְרַיִם וְלֹא הִתְחַבְּרוּ עִמָּם אוֹתָם עֵרֶב רַב, קָרָא לָהֶם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל. כֵּיוָן שֶׁהִתְחַבְּרוּ עִמָּם, שֶׁכָּתוּב וְגַם עֵרֶב רַב עָלָה עִמָּם, קָרָא לָהֶם הָעָם.
38. רַבִּי יוֹסֵי הִקְשָׁה וְאָמַר, כָּתוּב כִּי אֲשֶׁר רְאִיתֶם אֶת מִצְרַיִם הַיּוֹם לֹא תוֹסִיפוּ לִרְאוֹתָם עוֹד עַד עוֹלָם. אִם כָּךְ, כָּל יוֹם הָיוּ רוֹאִים אֶת אוֹתוֹ עֵרֶב רַב? אָמַר רַבִּי יְהוּדָה, עֵרֶב רַב כָּתוּב, וְלֹא מִצְרַיִם, שֶׁהֲרֵי כַּמָּה שְׁאָר עַמִּים הָיוּ דָרִים בְּמִצְרַיִם, וְלֹא עוֹד, אֶלָּא שֶׁכֻּלָּם נִמּוֹלוּ, וְכֵיוָן שֶׁנִּמּוֹלוּ, יוֹתֵר לֹא נִקְרְאוּ מִצְרִים.

Moses wanted to bring the Final Redemption earlier by correcting the Erev Rav. He allowed them to join the Israelites on the way to the Promised Land because they accepted circumcision.

The first Torah that God prepared as a gift for the Israelites was a Torah of Freedom and Immortality. The Erev Rav influenced the Israelites to go the wrong way. They all lost the first Torah, lost Immortality, brought death and exile under the control of other nations.

In the second Torah that we received on Mount Sinai we found 50 times the words “ארץ מצרים”, ‘the Land of Egypt’. It tells us that we are still in the land of Egypt, meaning exile from the Light, and in slavery to the material world. Only when we break the 50 gates of negativity we will have the merit to receive the Torah of Immortality.
