75. בֹּא רְאֵה, כָּאן כְּשֶׁקָּרַב פַּרְעֹה לַעֲרֹךְ קְרָב עִם יִשְׂרָאֵל, בְּאוֹתוֹ זְמַן לֹא רָצָה הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא שֶׁיְּעוֹרְרוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל הִתְעוֹרְרוּת לְמַטָּה כְּלָל, שֶׁהֲרֵי הַהִתְעוֹרְרוּת הִיא לְמַעְלָה, שֶׁהֲרֵי הָאָבוֹת הִקְדִּימוּ הִתְעוֹרְרוּת זֹאת לְמַעְלָה, וּזְכוּתָם עוֹמֶדֶת לְפָנָיו, [וְעוֹרְרוּ הִתְעוֹרְרוּת זוֹ] וְלֹא רָצָה הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא שֶׁיִּשְׂרָאֵל יִתְעוֹרְרוּ לְמַטָּה כְּלָל. [שֶׁהֲרֵי בְּמָקוֹם שֶׁל מַעְלָה הָיָה] זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב ה’ יִלָּחֵם לָכֶם וְאַתֶּם תַּחֲרִשׁוּן. וַדַּאי תַּחֲרִישׁוּן וְלֹא תְעוֹרְרוּ דָבָר, שֶׁלֹּא צָרִיךְ לָכֶם. וְכָאן נִכְלָל הַשֵּׁם הַקָּדוֹשׁ בְּאוֹתִיּוֹת רְשׁוּמוֹת, וַהֲרֵי הִתְעוֹרְרוּ בוֹ הַחֲבֵרִים.
76. רַבִּי יוֹסֵי וְרַבִּי יְהוּדָה הָיוּ הוֹלְכִים בַּדֶרֶךְ. אָמַר רַבִּי יוֹסֵי לְרַבִּי יְהוּדָה, וַדַּאי שָׁנִינוּ, ה’ בְּכָל מָקוֹם זֶה רַחֲמִים, וְאַף עַל גַּב שֶׁעוֹרֵךְ קְרָב וְעוֹשֶׂה דִין, אוֹתוֹ דִין הוּא בְּאַהֲבָה. וְכָךְ רָאִינוּ, שֶׁכָּתוּב ה’ יִלָּחֵם לָכֶם, וְלֹא נִרְאָה בְּאוֹתוֹ דִין רַחֲמִים כְּלָל, שֶׁהֲרֵי כָּתוּב לֹא נִשְׁאַר בָּהֶם עַד אֶחָד.

Pharaoh chased the Israelites to bring them back to Egypt by force. God didn’t want the Israelites to create awakening from below, which is the expression of their desire for help from the level of Malchut. The patriarchs intervened from above and for their merits God was ready to help them. That is why Moses told the people (Exodus 14:14)
“YHVH will fight for you while you keep silent”

While walking and studying, Rabbi Yossi told Rabbi Yehuda that they studied that the name YHVH that is used in the verse represents the aspect of mercy but here it says that YHVH will make war, which is judgment.
The aspect of mercy is not revealed here because it says later ‘not even one of them remained’.
Exodus 14:28
“וַיָּשֻׁבוּ הַמַּיִם וַיְכַסּוּ אֶת הָרֶכֶב וְאֶת הַפָּרָשִׁים לְכֹל חֵיל פַּרְעֹה הַבָּאִים אַחֲרֵיהֶם בַּיָּם לֹא נִשְׁאַר בָּהֶם עַד אֶחָד”
“The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even Pharaoh’s entire army that had gone into the sea after them; not even one of them remained.”
