Zohar Beshalach

#77
Rabbi Shimon explained that the judgment on the Egyptians was with mercy. After they drowned in the sea, God took them out to the earth to be buried. The land refused to take them but God stretched his right hand, which is mercy and the land swallowed them.
Exodus 15:12
“You stretched out your right hand; the earth swallowed them.”
#78
For that reason, the Holy One Blessed be He didn’t want the Israelites to ask for protection because coming from the lower level it would have caused judgments without mercy.
Lesson:
The world of Action, Malchut created with the force of judgment, אלהים, ELHYM. The name YHVH is the aspect of mercy and we are not allowed to pronounce it literally. Instead we read the name אדני ADNY that represents judgment א-דין.
When we call YHVH we use ADNY and that’s aspect of judgment. Because the patriarchs helped us from above, the force of YHVH fought thr Egyptians and not ADNY.
Another point we learned from the Holy Ari. YHVH, Zeir Anpin was not yet revealed in the world in its greatness (גדלות) until the revelation of the Torah on Mount Sinai. Making war against the Egyptians was a way to reveal the Right aspect of YHVH.
