Zohar Mishpatim

#100
Proverbs 9:4
“מִי פֶתִי יָסֻר הֵנָּה חֲסַר לֵב אָמְרָה לּוֹ.”
“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” As for him who lacks understanding, she says to him,”
When a person comes closer, the Torah gives him clues (רמז) to test his knowledge and level of understanding. If he doesn’t get the clues, she brings him closer and converses with him in simple words (פשט) until he begins to see and understand better. This is the aspect of ‘discussion’ (דרש).

#101
Later, behind a thin curtain, she speaks to him with riddles that is the aspect of Torah ‘Secrets’ (סוד). After he gets used to this level of study, she reveals herself and shares with him all the secrets and paths of understanding that were hidden from him since the beginning of their relationship. He then becomes the master of the ‘house’ that is the Torah, and wherever he goes, he can unlock the secrets.

Lesson;
The study of Torah has four aspects of understanding; פשט, רמז, דרש, סוד. Simple, clues, discussions, secrets. The initials spell ‘פרדס’ that translates as ‘Orchard’.
The Torah welcomes the student with clues that would lead to secrets but ‘converse’ with the student on its level, allowing him to grow with the study all the way to understand the secrets.
The ‘Orchard’ is very special, and as we go deeper inside, passing through the lower levels, we see more magnificent and beautiful fruits that nourish us on a higher level.
The Zohar is the deeper place of the orchard and, at the same time, has its own four aspects of understanding. Reading the text and the literal translations are the simple level, and studying the Bible verses that the Zohar quotes are the aspect of clues. The study, as we do on the Daily Zohar, is the ‘discussion,’ including the ‘Lesson’ part. When we discuss the connection of the study to the flow of the Sefirot, we are at the level of secrets of secrets.
Repeated study of the Zohar opens a greater level of understandings that leads into the heart of the Orchard where the fruits are most ‘sweet’ and nourishing.
