The Ruach from the redeemer (the brother-in-law) becomes the garments for the Ruach of the child.
The Holy One Blessed be He releases the Ruach that the husband left in his wife before having children, and allocate for her a special place for this soul, and at the time of the Resurrection of the dead, he will resurrect the body of the dead husband with that Ruach.
The body of the husband that died without children is punished because he didn’t have a continuation in this world. He is lowered to a lower level dimension that is called ‘Arka’. There are seven dimensions of ‘earth’ where souls incarnate for their correction process. These levels are:
ארץ אדמה גיא נשיה ציה ארקא תבל.
We reside on the top level that is called ‘Tevel’. The childless soul is judged on the level of ‘Arka’, returned to ‘Tevel’, then down to ‘Adama’ and so on the soul goes up and down without rest, except for Shabbat, Rosh Chodesh, and Holidays.
Watch this video about the seven levels.
The first sin brought mortality to the world and the main correction of men is to fulfill the first Mitzvah of “Be fruitful and multiply”, meaning we must have a continuation of life.
The Torah is life and revealing light in this world has an aspect of continuation. There were Tzadikim that didn’t have children but they had many students, and or published books that lived long after them.
