Zohar Ki Tisa

Continued the study about the sin of the Golden Calf from previous studies of Ki Tisa

If you are not familiar with the story of King Jeroboam, read first the lesson section below the paragraphs.

#98
Rabbi Elazar tells his father that in the desert Israel didn’t do the Golden Calf, but the Erev Rav. King Jeroboam sinned by making calves for idol worship and made the people follow his sin. Even though the calves were not real as the one the Erev Rav made, it was still a big sin because it was against the order of God.

#99
Jeroboam knew that holiness can dwell only in the heart of the world that is Jerusalem. For that reason, he couldn’t draw holiness to the kingdom he established outside the kingdom of Judah that was around Jerusalem. He took bad advice and thought that the other side can go everywhere especially in the land of Israel but they can not appear only in the form of an Ox.

#100
Jeroboam knew that the magicians in the desert drew the spirits of Ox and Donkey, male and female into one calf. Here he made two calves, the male in Beth-El and the female in Dan, The people followed the calves.
1 Kings 12:30
“וַיְהִי הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה לְחַטָּאת וַיֵּלְכוּ הָעָם לִפְנֵי הָאֶחָד עַד דָּן.”
“Now this thing became a sin, for the people went to worship before the one as far as Dan.”
Jeroboam withheld the blessings from coming to Israel and the world because he drew the energy of the other side and corrupted the connection to Zeir Anpin.
Zeir Anpin is the father and mother of Malchut and on this, it is written
Proverbs 28:24
“גּוֹזֵל אָבִיו וְאִמּוֹ וְאֹמֵר אֵין פָּשַׁע חָבֵר הוּא לְאִישׁ מַשְׁחִית.”
“Whoever robs his father or his mother, And says, “It is no transgression,” The same is a companion to a destroyer.”

Lesson;
Jeroboam was from the tribe of Ephraim. He rebelled against King Solomon and ran away to Egypt. The prophet Achiya HaShiloni prophesied that the kingdom of Israel would divide and Jeroboam would be a king over ten tribes. After King Solomon’s death, his son Rechavam became the king over the land of Judah and Benjamin that included Jerusalem and the surrounding area. Jeroboam ruled over the rest but he didn’t have access to Jerusalem and the Holy Temple.
