138. (בָּרָקִיעַ הַשֵּׁנִי עוֹלָה הַתְּפִלָּה עַד אוֹתוֹ רָקִיעַ, וְנִפְתָּחִים) וּכְשֶׁעוֹלָה הַתְּפִלָּה עַד לְאוֹתוֹ רָקִיעַ, נִפְתָּחִים שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר שַׁעֲרֵי אוֹתוֹ הָרָקִיעַ, וּבְאוֹתוֹ הַשַּׁעַר הַשְּׁנֵים עָשָׂר עוֹמֵד מְמֻנֶּה אֶחָד שֶׁשְּׁמוֹ עָנָאֵ”ל, וְזֶה מְמֻנֶּה עַל כַּמָּה חֲיָלוֹת, עַל כַּמָּה מַחֲנוֹת, וּכְשֶׁתְּפִלָּה עוֹלָה, עוֹמֵד הַמְמֻנֶּה הַזֶּה וּמַכְרִיז עַל כָּל אוֹתָם פְּתָחִים וְאוֹמֵר: (ישעיה כו) פִּתְחוּ שְׁעָרִים וְגוֹ’, וְכָל הַשְּׁעָרִים נִפְתָּחִים, וְנִכְנֶסֶת הַתְּפִלָּה לְכָל אוֹתָם הַפְּתָחִים.
139. וְאָז מִתְעוֹרֵר מְמֻנֶּה אֶחָד זָקֵן לְיָמִים שֶׁעוֹמֵד לְצַד דָּרוֹם, שֶׁשְּׁמוֹ עַזְרִיאֵ”ל הַזָּקֵן, וְלִפְעָמִים הוּא נִקְרָא מַחֲנִיאֵ”ל, מִשּׁוּם שֶׁהִתְמַנָּה עַל שִׁשִּׁים רִבּוֹא מַחֲנוֹת, וְכֻלָּם בַּעֲלֵי כְנָפַיִם, בַּעֲלֵי מַחֲנוֹת, מְלֵאִים עֵינַיִם. וְאֶצְלָם עוֹמְדִים אוֹתָם מַחֲנוֹת בַּעֲלֵי אָזְנַיִם. וְנִקְרָאִים אָזְנַיִם, מִשּׁוּם שֶׁהֵם מַקְשִׁיבִים לְכָל אוֹתָם שֶׁמִּתְפַּלְלִים תְּפִלָּתָם בְּלַחַשׁ וּבִרְצוֹן הַלֵּב, שֶׁלֹּא נִשְׁמַעַת אוֹתָהּ תְּפִלָּה לְאַחֵר. הַתְּפִלָּה הַזּוֹ עוֹלָה, וּמַקְשִׁיבִים לָהּ כָּל אוֹתָם שֶׁנִּקְרָאִים בַּעֲלֵי אָזְנַיִם.

And when the prayer ascends to that firmament, Yessod, twelve gates of that firmament are opened, and at the twelfth gate stands an appointee whose name is ענאל, and he is in charge of several armies and several camps.
And when the prayer begins to rise, this appointee stands and announces to all gates;
Isaiah 26:2
“פִּתְחוּ שְׁעָרִים וְיָבֹא גוֹי צַדִּיק שֹׁמֵר אֱמֻנִים.”
“Open the gates, That the righteous nation which keeps the truth may enter in.”
Then all the gates are opened, and the prayer enters in all these gates.

Then one old man appointee, who stands on the south side, whose name is עזריאל סבא, “Azriel, the elder,” and sometimes he is called מחניאל because he is appointed over six hundred thousand camps. They all have wings; some camps under him are full of eyes. And among them, camps who have ears. They are called ears because they listen to all those who pray their prayers silently, with the desire of the heart, and another does not hear their prayer; this prayer goes up and is listened to by all those who are called ears.

There is a special illumination of Light from the right line of Binah that is Chessed of Binah; the appointed one is called עזריאל סבא, “Azriel, the elder” because Chokmah and Binah are called elders. He appointed over 600 thousand that came from the six sefirot, Chessed, Gevura, Tiferet, Netzach, Hod, and Yessod. Each sefira from Binah is considered 100, and the Light of Chokmah is called a thousand.
From Binah come the aspects of eyes and ears. The ears have the ability to hear good and bad because of a connection between Malchut and Binah, that is, mercy and judgment.
If the prayer comes from the good side, it is heard favorably by the aspect of Mercy, and if the prayer is not from the good side, then it is heard with the aspect of judgment.
