144. וַיִּגַּע בְּכַף יְרֵכוֹ. כְּשֶׁבָּא אֵצֶל יַעֲקֹב, לָקַח כֹּחַ מֵאוֹתוֹ פְּנוֹת עֶרֶב בַּדִּין הַקָּשֶׁה. וְיַעֲקֹב הָיָה נִכְלָל בּוֹ וְלֹא יָכֹל לוֹ. וַיַּרְא כִּי לֹא יָכֹל לוֹ וַיִּגַּע בְּכַף יְרֵכוֹ. לָקַח תֹּקֶף הַדִּין מִשָּׁם, בִּגְלַל שֶׁיָּרֵךְ הוּא מִחוּץ לַגּוּף. שֶׁיַּעֲקֹב הָיָה גוּף, וְגוּפוֹ הָיָה כָּלוּל בְּסוֹד שֶׁל שְׁתֵּי דְרָגוֹת בְּסוֹד שֶׁנִּקְרָא אָדָם. כֵּיוָן שֶׁלָּקַח תֹּקֶף מִחוּץ לַגּוּף, מִיָּד – וַתֵּקַע כַּף יֶרֶךְ יַעֲקֹב.
145. וְלֹא הִתְנַבֵּא אִישׁ מִשָּׁם עַד שֶׁבָּא שְׁמוּאֵל, וְעַל זֶה נֵצַח יִשְׂרָאֵל כָּתוּב בּוֹ, כִּי לֹא אָדָם הוּא. יְהוֹשֻׁעַ נִתְנַבֵּא מֵהוֹדוֹ שֶׁל מֹשֶׁה, שֶׁכָּתוּב (במדבר כז) וְנָתַתָּ מֵהוֹדְךָ עָלָיו. הוֹד. וְזוֹ דַרְגָּה חֲמִישִׁית. נֵצַח – יֶרֶךְ שְׂמֹאל שֶׁל יַעֲקֹב. וְלָכֵן בָּא דָוִד וְכָלַל אוֹתוֹ בַּיָּמִין, שֶׁכָּתוּב (תהלים טז) נְעִמוֹת בִּימִינְךָ נֶצַח. יְמִינְךָ לֹא כָתוּב אֶלָּא בִּימִינְךָ.
146. מָה הַטַּעַם נֶחְלְשָׁה יֶרֶךְ יַעֲקֹב? בִּגְלַל שֶׁהִתְקָרֵב אֵלָיו צַד הַטֻּמְאָה וְלָקַח מִמֶּנּוּ כֹּחַ, וְהִתְעַכֵּב עַד שְׁמוּאֵל. וְעַל זֶה בָּא לְהַזְכִּיר שֶׁזֶּהוּ יָרֵךְ שֶׁל יִשְׂרָאֵל, שֶׁכָּתוּב וְגַם נֵצַח יִשְׂרָאֵל. וְעַל זֶה כָּל דְּבָרָיו הָיוּ בַדִּין בָּרֵאשִׁית וּלְבַסּוֹף.

Genesis 32:26
“וַיַּרְא כִּי לֹא יָכֹל לוֹ וַיִּגַּע בְּכַף יְרֵכוֹ וַתֵּקַע כַּף יֶרֶךְ יַעֲקֹב בְּהֵאָבְקוֹ עִמּוֹ.”
“Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him.”

When Esau’s minister came to Jacob, Jacob took reinforcements from the force of the evening, which is the aspect of the Left line, and Isaac’s correction.
Jacob was included in the Left line so the minister of Esau could not hurt him. Jacob represents the sefira of Tiferet, which consists of the levels of Adam, male, and female. The thighs are considered outside the body. When the angel wrestled with Jacob, he wanted to knock him down, so he touched Jacob’s thigh, which was outside Jacob’s body and a weak point of Jacob. At that moment, Jacob took strength from the forces of judgments of the Left and overcame the angel. Because Jacob drew force from the outside, he was hurt; as we read, “the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint.”

No one prophesied from the level of Netzach until Samuel came and corrected it. And so it is written next to “Netzach Yisrael,” “will not lie nor relent for He is not a man (Adam).”
Netzach is outside the body, meaning below the level of Tiferet. There is no connection to the two levels of Adam below Tiferet.
No one corrected it until Samuel elevated it and included it in the Right; therefore, it is said, “will not lie.” The level of Hod remained weak because even Samuel could not correct it, but it will be corrected in the future at the end of the Tikun. It is implied when we read that after the fight with the angel, “and he limped on his thigh” (Genesis 32:32).
Joshua was before the Prophet Samuel came. And so he could not prophesize from Netzach because of the weakness on the Left, caused by the angel’s touch, as explained above. Joshua prophesied from Moshe’s Sefirah of Hod, as it is written;
Numbers 27:20
“וְנָתַתָּה מֵהוֹדְךָ עָלָיו לְמַעַן יִשְׁמְעוּ כָּל עֲדַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.”
“And you shall put some of your splendor (Hod) on him (Joshua), so that all the congregation of the sons of Israel may obey him.”

He asks why Jacob’s hip weakened?, and replies, Because the impure side came close to him, and he took strength from it. The negative side holds where there is a lack of holiness. And in this case, it was delayed until Samuel came. This is why it is written; “And also, Netzach Israel…”.
Zeir Anpin has two levels: in the level of smallness, “קטנות,” it is called “Jacob,” and in a state of maturity, “גדלות,” it is called “Israel.”
Samuel corrected Netzach by elevating it from the level of “Jacob” to the level of “Israel” (1 Samuel 15:29).
