Zohar Vayera

#169
Whoever does Tzedaka while the judgment is being roamed in the world, the Holy One, Blessed be He, remembers the Tzedaka he has done because every time a person earns merit, it is registered to his account above. Therefore, even when the judgment is being served in the world, the Holy One, Blessed be He, remembers the good he has done and earned, as it is written;
Proverbs 10:2
“Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, But righteousness (Tzedaka) delivers from death.”
Because of this, the Holy One presented opportunities for Abraham to do good and earn merits to save Lot.

#170
“וַיָּקֻמוּ מִשָּׁם הָאֲנָשִׁים.” “Then the men rose from there ” (Genesis 18:16) is about the angels that came to Abraham. They arose from the meal that Abraham made for them. Even though there were angels who did not need to eat, they consumed everything so that Abraham would earn merits from serving them, for it is written, “They ate”;
Genesis 18:8
“So he took butter and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and set it before them, and stood by them under the tree as they ate.”
The angels consumed the food by burning it with their fire.
