Daily Zohar # 4556 – Emor – Light and glory under the clouds
Daily Zohar 4556
Hebrew translation:
263. בְּאֵר – זוֹ בְּאֵרוֹ שֶׁל יִצְחָק. עֲנָנִים – אֵלּוּ הָעֲנָנִים שֶׁל אַהֲרֹן. אָמַר רַבִּי יִצְחָק, מִפְּנֵי מָה זָכָה אַהֲרֹן לָזֶה? מִשּׁוּם שֶׁהוּא קָשׁוּר בָּעֲנָנִים (רֹאשׁ לָעֲנָנִים), וְהוּא נִקְשָׁר כָּל יוֹם וָיוֹם לְכֻלָּם כְּאֶחָד, שֶׁכֻּלָּם מִתְבָּרְכִים עַל יָדוֹ.
264. בֹּא רְאֵה, עַל כָּל חֶסֶד שֶׁעָשָׂה הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא עִם יִשְׂרָאֵל, קָשַׁר עִמָּם שִׁבְעָה עֲנָנִים נִכְבָּדִים, וְקָשַׁר אוֹתָם עִם כְּנֶסֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל, שֶׁהֲרֵי הֶעָנָן שֶׁלָּהּ נִקְשָׁר עִם שִׁשָּׁה אֲחֵרִים. וְעִם כָּל הַשִּׁבְעָה הָלְכוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל בַּמִּדְבָּר. מָה הַטַּעַם? מִשּׁוּם שֶׁכֻּלָּם הֵם הַקֶּשֶׁר שֶׁל הָאֱמוּנָה, וְעַל זֶה בַּסֻּכֹּת תֵּשְׁבוּ שִׁבְעַת יָמִים. מַה זֶּה אוֹמֵר? מִשּׁוּם שֶׁכָּתוּב (שיר ב) בְּצִלּוֹ חִמַּדְתִּי וְיָשַׁבְתִּי וּפִרְיוֹ מָתוֹק לְחִכִּי. וְצָרִיךְ אָדָם לְהַרְאוֹת אֶת עַצְמוֹ שֶׁיּוֹשֵׁב תַּחַת צֵל הָאֱמוּנָה.

When Aaron died, those Clouds of Glory were withdrawn, and with them, the seventh cloud, which the well, being Malchut, had been bound to, as previously mentioned. Moses then came and restored them. This is what is meant by the verse,
Psalm 68:19
“עָלִיתָ לַמָּרוֹם שָׁבִיתָ שֶּׁבִי לָקַחְתָּ מַתָּנוֹת בָּאָדָם וְאַף סוֹרְרִים לִשְׁכֹּן יָהּ אֱלֹהִים.”
“You have ascended on high; You have led captivity captive; You have received gifts among men, Even from the rebellious, That YHVH God might dwell there.”
Indeed, these gifts were taken, the same gifts that were initially there, namely the well and the clouds.

The well refers to the well of Isaac, meaning Malchut is called a well when it receives the illumination of Chokmah from the left, named Isaac. These clouds are the clouds of Aaron, meaning that the clouds are Chassadim, as they are the aspects of Aaron who is Chessed.
Therefore, it is understood from what is said (#261) that the Malchut of the well was bound to the Malchut of the clouds because they are distinct from one another; one is the Chessed of Malchut, and the other is the Gevurah of Malchut.
Rabbi Yitzchak asked, “Why did Aaron merit this? That the Clouds of Glory should come to Israel in his merit.” It is because he was bound to the clouds, meaning that he is the attribute of Chessed like them. And he, being the chariot for the Chessed of Zeir Anpin, who is the head of the clouds, was connecting and uniting them daily as one so that all would be blessed through him.

Come and see, for every act of Chessed that the Holy One, Blessed be He, performed with Israel, He bound with it seven Clouds of Glory, which are Chessed, Gevurah, Tiferet, Netzach, Hod, Yessod, Malchut, and tied them to the Congregation of Israel, which is Malchut. For her cloud, which is the Malchut of the clouds, was tied with the other six sefirot, Chessed to Yessod. Israel traveled through the desert with all seven clouds. What is the reason? It is because they were all bonds of faith (אֱמוּנָה), clinging to Malchut, which is called faith. And about this, the scripture says,
Leviticus 23:42
“בַּסֻּכֹּת תֵּשְׁבוּ שִׁבְעַת יָמִים כָּל הָאֶזְרָח בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל יֵשְׁבוּ בַּסֻּכֹּת”
“You shall live in booths (Sukkot) for seven days; all the native-born in Israel shall live in booths,”
The days in the Sukkot correspond to the seven Clouds of Glory that traveled with Israel in the desert.
What does this teach us? He responded, because it is written,
Songs 2:3
“כְּתַפּוּחַ בַּעֲצֵי הַיַּעַר כֵּן דּוֹדִי בֵּין הַבָּנִים בְּצִלּוֹ חִמַּדְתִּי וְיָשַׁבְתִּי וּפִרְיוֹ מָתוֹק לְחִכִּי.”
“Like an apple tree among the trees of the woods, So is my beloved among the sons. I sat down in his shade with great delight, And his fruit was sweet to my taste.”
This refers to the shade of the Clouds of Glory and also to the shade of the sukkah. A person must show that he is dwelling under the shade of faith (צֵל הָאֱמוּנָה).
