Daily Zohar # 4593 – Emor – He had a grievance against Moses
Daily Zohar 4593

Another interpretation: “And the son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name and cursed” (Leviticus 24:11). Rabbi Yitzchak said, “Why did the son of the Israelite woman blaspheme? As we have explained, it was because the Israelite man was the husband of Shelomith.” Rabbi Yehuda said, “He was the son of Shelomith’s husband from another woman” (as previously explained). Rabbi Yitzchak said, “They were fighting, and the Israelite man said something about his mother, that she was a prostitute, and that his father, the Egyptian, was killed by the holy Name through Moses, as we have established. It is written,
Exodus 2:14
“Then he said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” So Moses feared and said, “Surely this thing is known!”
Indicating that Moses killed him with the holy Name. Therefore, he brought this matter against him during the quarrel, revealing it amid their argument.”

And this is what is written, ‘And the son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name and cursed. So they brought him to Moses’ (Leviticus 24:11). Why? It was because he came to Moses with a complaint that Moses had killed his father using the Holy Name. Therefore, ‘they brought him to Moses.’ When Moses saw him, he immediately placed him in custody. Both the father and the son fell into Moses’ hands.
Lesson;
The son of the Israelite woman had a grievance against Moses because Moses had killed his father using the holy Name. Because his complaint was directly related to Moses’ action, he was brought before Moses. Upon seeing the son, Moses placed him in custody, indicating a severe response to the blasphemy. This Zohar ties the incident of blasphemy to the earlier event where Moses killed the Egyptian, showing a continuation of the consequences of that action.
