Daily Zohar 4773

“וַיּוֹשַׁע ה’ בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל” “And Hashem saved Israel on that day…” (Exodus 14:30). The Holy One, Blessed be He, showed them the ministering angel appointed over Egypt. He passed him through the River of Fire (Dinur, נְהַר דִּינוּר), which is at the shore of the upper sea, representing the Malchut. He died. What is the reason that he died? After all, there is no death among the angels. As we explained, passing him from his position of authority is considered his death.

Rabbi Chiya said: Here, through “הַיָּד הַגְּדֹלָה” “the great hand,” the left hand, which is Gevurah, was completed, along with all the fingers that correspond to Cheדsed, Gevurah, Tiferet, Netzach, and Hod within it. The left hand is completed because it is included within the right hand. As we have learned, everything is included in and depends on the right hand. This is as it is written: “יְמִינְךָ ה’ נֶאְדָּרִי בַּכֹּחַ יְמִינְךָ ה’ תִּרְעַץ אוֹיֵב” “Your right hand, Hashem, is majestic in power; Your right hand, Hashem, shatters the enemy” (Exodus 15:6). And although this pertains to Gevurah, since it depends on the right hand, it is attributed to it.
Notes:
The power of Gevurah (Judgment) is perfected and expressed when included within the framework of Chessed. This unity is revealed through the splitting of the Red Sea, where Hashem’s “right hand” is both powerful and merciful.

Rabbi Yitzchak said: We have not found anyone who hardened his heart against the Holy One, Blessed be He, like Pharaoh. Rabbi Yosi responded, But Sihon and Og also hardened their hearts. Rabbi Yitzchak replied: It is not the same. They hardened their hearts against Israel, but not directly against the Holy One, Blessed be He, in the way that Pharaoh hardened his heart against Him, even as he witnessed His might and did not repent.
Notes:
Pharaoh’s rebellion stands out because he directly opposed Hashem’s will despite witnessing overwhelming evidence of His power, unlike Sihon and Og, whose defiance was directed primarily against Israel.
