#363
For this reason, the Torah warns us: “וְהִתְקַדִּשְׁתֶּם וִהְיִיתֶם קְדֹשִׁים” “And you shall sanctify yourselves, and you shall be holy” — truly so. If a person is holy, he has nothing to fear from her — from Lilith — because then, the Holy One, Blessed be He, appoints those three holy angels (mentioned earlier), and they protect the child, and she (Lilith) cannot harm him. As it is written: “לֹא תְאֻנֶּה אֵלֶיךָ רָעָה וְנֶגַע לֹא יִקְרַב בְּאָהֳלֶךָ” “No evil shall befall you, and no plague shall come near your tent.”
Why is it that no evil befalls you? Because “כִּי מַלְאָכָיו יְצַוֶּה לָּךְ” “He shall command His angels concerning you, to guard you.” And it is also written: “כִּי בִי חָשַׁק וַאֲפַלְּטֵהוּ” “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him.”
Notes:
The last letters of “כִּי מַלְאָכָיו יְצַוֶּה לָּךְ” from Psalm 91:11 reveal the name of the angel “יוהך” that guards our path.
The Zohar teaches that personal holiness is spiritual protection. A holy person draws divine guardianship to protect themselves and their household, especially their children, from spiritual harm, including that of Lilith or other harmful forces.
It connects the angels’ protection to the practical mitzvah of sanctifying oneself, emphasizing the reward of safety and divine love.

#364
If a person is not holy, and he draws upon himself a spirit from the side of impurity, then Lil-th comes and plays with that child — and if she kills him, she cleaves to the spirit of that child and never leaves it. And if you say regarding those others, who did not draw a spirit from the side of impurity — yet she kills them too —and those three holy spirits arrive before her and take the spirit from her (as explained earlier #362) — then they were not from the impure side, so why is she permitted to kill them?
The answer is: This happens when a person does not sanctify himself. Therefore, she has permission to kill them, even though he had no intention to defile himself, nor did he actually become impure. Because of that, she is allowed to rule over the body — to kill it — but not over the soul. The soul is then brought before the Holy One, Blessed be He.
Notes:
The Zohar teaches that lack of personal sanctity can expose one’s children to spiritual harm — especially from destructive spiritual forces symbolized by Lil-th. If the parent is impure and draws a spirit from the side of impurity, Lil-th can take full hold — body and soul. If the parent is not impure but also not sanctified, she may still harm the body but cannot hold the soul, which holy angels take before Hashem. This highlights the urgent spiritual responsibility of sanctifying oneself — not only for one’s own sake but for the protection and well-being of one’s children.
