371. לָמַדְנוּ, הִתְעַבְּרָה ה’ עֶלְיוֹנָה בְּאַהֲבָה וַחֲבִיבוּת שֶׁאֵין נִפְרָד מִמֶּנָּה יוֹ”ד לְעוֹלָמִים. הִתְעַבְּרָה וְהוֹצִיאָה וָא”ו, אַחַר כָּךְ עָמַד לְפָנֶיהָ וְהֵינִיקָה אוֹתוֹ, וְזוֹ (וְדָן בָּעוֹלָם) הַוָּא”ו כְּשֶׁיָּצְאָה, בַּת זוּגוֹ יָצְאָה עִמּוֹ. בָּא הַחֶסֶד וְהִתְעוֹרֵר אֵלָיו, וְהִפְרִיד אוֹתָם, וְיָצְאוּ גְזָעִים מִתַּחַת לְמַעְלָה, וְהִתְפַּשְּׁטוּ עֲנָפִים וְהִתְרַבּוּ, וְנֶעֶשְׂתָה הֵ”א תַּחְתּוֹנָה. וְהִתְרַבְּתָה בַּעֲנָפֶיהָ לְמַעְלָה לְמַעְלָה, עַד שֶׁהִזְדַּוְּגָה בָּאִילָן הָעֶלְיוֹן, וְהִתְחַבְּרוּ וָא”ו עִם הֵ”א. מִי גָרַם לָהֶם? חֶסֶד הוּא. חֶסֶד הוּא וַדַּאי. שֶׁחִבְּרָם כְּאֶחָד.
372. יוֹ”ד עִם הֵ”א עֶלְיוֹנָה, אֵין תָּלוּי חִבּוּרָן בְּחֶסֶד, אֶלָּא חִבּוּרָן תָּלוּי בְּמַזָּל, וַחֲבִיבוּתָן, שֶׁלֹּא נִפְרָדוֹת לְעוֹלָמִים. יוֹ”ד נִקְשֶׁרֶת לְהֵ”א, וְהֵ”א נִקְשֶׁרֶת לְוָא”ו, וָא”ו נִקְשֶׁרֶת בְּהֵ”א, וְהֵ”א נִקְשֶׁרֶת בַּכֹּל. וְהַכֹּל הוּא קֶשֶׁר אֶחָד וְדָבָר אֶחָד. לֹא נִפְרָדוֹת זוֹ מִזּוֹ לְעוֹלָמִים. כִּבְיָכוֹל מִי שֶׁגּוֹרֵם אֶת הַפֵּרוּד כְּאִלּוּ הֶחֱרִיב עוֹלָם, וְנִקְרָא עֶרְוַת הַכֹּל.

We have learned that the upper ה׳, which is Binah, became impregnated through love and affection, and the י׳, which is Chochmah, never separates from her. She (Binah) became impregnated and gave birth to the ו׳, which is Zeir Anpin (Z “A) — the Vav that is within the upper ה׳. Afterward, this ו׳ stood before her, that is, the ו׳ that comes after י״ה in the Holy Name YHVH, and she nursed him. This ו׳ (Z “A), when it emerged from Binah, came together with his mate, Malchut, who emerged alongside him. And so the two of them were like brother and sister, both children of Binah. At that point, they were joined back-to-back (אחור באחור Achor be’Achor). Then, Chessed was awakened toward him, Zeir Anpin, and separated the two — Z “A and Malchut — from one another. This caused the roots to emerge upward, and the branches expanded, referring to Z “A and Malchut, who grew and matured until the lower ה׳ was formed (Malchut took on a distinct identity). She expanded in her branches, ever upward, until she — Malchut — could now enter into union with the upper level, which is Z “A, and the ו׳ (Z “A) became unified with the ה׳ (Malchut).
As stated earlier (in Vayikra, #100), these are the same concepts referenced previously (in #369), but here they are expanded upon. Who caused all of this transformation and union? It was Chessed that brought them together.
Notes:
This passage presents a foundational teaching in Kabbalah: that the process of Divine union and creation flows through development and separation, culminating in a holy reunion. The separation (back-to-back state) allows for maturation. The reunion (face-to-face) enables spiritual flow and Divine presence.
This mirrors human spiritual development: we begin in a state of unconscious connection, go through separation and growth, and finally reach conscious unity — within ourselves, others, and the Divine. The root of this entire process is Chessed, which is selfless love and giving. It is Chessed that breaks the initial immaturity and allows the holy union to manifest.

The י (Yud) with the upper ה (Heh) — which are Chochmah and Binah—their connection does not depend on Chessed, as it does between Zeir Anpin (Vav) and Malchut (final Heh). Rather, their connection and affection depend on the Mazala (מזלא, Divine flow of highest level), which is the Beard (Dikna) of Arich Anpin, which unifies Chochmah and Binah.
They are never separated. The Yud is bound to the upper Heh,
and the upper Heh is bound to the Vav, and the Vav is bound to the final Heh, and the final Heh is bound to all of them — Yud-Heh-Vav. And everything is one unified bond, one singular reality — they are never separated. Whoever causes separation among them is like one who destroys the world. And this is what is called “עֶרְוַת הַכֹּל” “the nakedness of all” — a great spiritual blemish.
Notes:
The holy Name Y-H-V-H represents perfect Divine unity between all levels of spiritual reality — from Chokmah (Wisdom) to Malchut (Manifestation). Chochma and Binah are united eternally through Mazala. This unity continues down to Zeir Anpin and Malchut. The entire system is one complete, indivisible connection. Disrupting this unity — through sin, heresy, or spiritual corruption — is not merely a personal fault but a cosmic rupture, described as “the nakedness of all.” Preserving Divine unity — in thought, action, and intention — sustains the world. Causing separation is likened to spiritual destruction. Thus, unity is both the foundation of the world and the highest goal of spiritual life.
