Zohar Acharei Mot

#390
One who seeks to understand and comprehend the combinations of the sacred Names must first know which letters are inscribed within each sefira. Then, he will possess knowledge and be established in all. We have written them — all these letters inscribed and known in each sefirah, from the supernal book of Solomon. And thus, it has come into our hands, and our friends have written them down. And it is good that they have written them because every sefira borrows letters from its companion, and one must know and remember them — as we explained in the previous teaching. Sometimes, however, it is only necessary to understand the letters inscribed within the specific sefira and not those that are borrowed between sefirot. All this is known to the friends (chaverim); we have already clarified it.
Notes:
To understand and properly apply the combinations of the sacred Holy Names, it is essential first to know which Hebrew letters are associated with each sefira. In the teachings of Kabbalah, these letters are not random—they act as spiritual vessels that carry and express the unique energy of each sefira. These associations are part of the hidden wisdom passed down through the generations and are attributed in part to the secret teachings of King Solomon, who was renowned for his mastery of spiritual forces and Holy Names.
Each sefira has specific letters corresponding to its inner essence, but these letters are not always exclusive. The sefirot often interact and borrow letters from one another, reflecting the dynamic flow of Divine energy across the spiritual worlds. For example, a letter primarily rooted in the sefirah of Chessed may also appear in names related to Netzach due to their shared attributes or functions.
The sages and Kabbalists carefully preserved this knowledge, and those who master these associations gain access to a deeper understanding of how the Holy Names function within the framework of creation. Such mastery allows one to contemplate the Divine structure and interact with it, awakening spiritual influence and aligning oneself with the higher worlds when done with proper purity and intention. This is one of the foundations of practical Kabbalah, where the combination of letters and names is used not magically but as a means of connecting more deeply to the Divine blueprint of reality.
