#402
We have learned that 125 types of impurities descended into the world. They unite and attach through the side of the mighty Snake. And 27 of the greatest among them cling to the Nukva and cleave to her. Woe to whoever draws near to her at that time, for whoever draws near exposes a blemish above. Because of this sin, the mighty Snake above is aroused and casts pollution into the place where it should not be and unites with the Nukva. Then the hairs of the male grow long, and the Nukva becomes impure, and her hairs grow, and her nails grow long. Then judgments begin to awaken in the world, and everything becomes impure. As it is written: “כִּי אֶת מִקְדַּשׁ ה’ טִמֵּא” “For he has defiled the Sanctuary of Hashem” (Leviticus 19:8). The Sanctuary of Hashem becomes defiled through the sins of the people.
Notes:
27 Major Impurities Cling to the Nukva: These correspond to the most dominant aspects of impurity that attack the Shechinah, Nukva, or Malchut. The number 27 may allude to the 27 letters in the Hebrew alphabet, including the five final letters, hinting at a corruption that affects the communication or expression of the Light through the Hebrew letters. As a result, the spiritual sanctuary, the Shechinah, becomes defiled through human sins.
