Rabbi Yossi opened and said, “לִבִּי לְחוֹקְקֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הַמִּתְנַדְּבִים בָּעָם בָּרֲכוּ יְהוָה” “My heart is toward the lawgivers of Israel, who offer themselves willingly among the people; bless YHVH” (Judges 5:9). Come and see, all the will and all the heart that a person needs to draw blessings from above to below to unify the Holy Name, he needs to draw in prayer to the Holy One, blessed be He, with will and with the intentions (Kavanot) of the heart, from that deep stream (נחל) which is Binah, as it is written, “מִמַּעֲמַקִּים קְרָאתִיךָ יְהוָה” “Out of the depths I have called You, YHVH” (Psalms 130:1). For there is the depth of everything in the upper depths, which are the upper beginning where Abba and Imma unite, that is, Chochmah and Binah within Binah. Also here, “My heart is toward the lawgivers of Israel” — who are the lawgivers of Israel. For it is not written “the engraved ones of Israel,” but “the lawgivers of Israel,” for these are Abba and Imma, who engrave, that is, who give the minds (mochin, upper three sefirot) to holy Israel, which is Zeir Anpin, that is drawn from between them.
Notes:
True prayer that draws blessings and unifies the Name must rise from the depths of Binah. The “lawgivers of Israel” are Abba and Imma, who bestow the higher minds upon Zeir Anpin.
