Tikkun 29 – 2
Rabbi Shimon was visited by an elder man. This elder is Rabbi Hamnuna Saba that appears in several places in the Zohar. He comes to help Rabbi Shimon in revealing new Torah secrets.
He honors Rabbi Shimon by calling him “Holy Candle” and asks him to light a candle, which is bringing the light to the vessel. In this reference the elder calls it a Mitzvah that connects to the Holy Shechina.
The Elder made an opening for Rabbi Shimon to reveal the secret of the continuously burning candle that God instructed Moses to place in the Tabernacle immediately after it was built.
Exodus 27:20
“And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure olive oil beaten for the light, to cause a lamp to burn continually. ”
Another continuously burning was the fire on the altar.
Leviticus 6:6
“Fire shall be kept burning upon the altar continually; it shall not go out ”
When fire burns, there is a transformation of matter and a spiritual effect takes place. The continuous fire on the altar helped maintain the flow of the energy of cleansing to come down and keep the tabernacle clear of negativity.
Note: We recite this verse seven times to help us remove negative thoughts from our mind and build certainty with the light.
Rabbi Shimon took the opportunity that the Elder gave him. He stood on his legs and said “Master of all worlds, you are the owner of Kings (meaning above the Keter and the crowns of all levels) and revealer of the secrets. May it be in your will to put words in my mouth as it said in this verse (Exodus 4:12) “וְאָנֹכִי אֶהְיֶה עִם-פִּיךָ, וְהוֹרֵיתִיךָ אֲשֶׁר תְּדַבֵּר. ” “and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak. ”
so I won’t come before you with shame.
Rabbi Shimon, with all his holiness and knowledge of the spiritual system, wanted to come inside the opening and reveal more light. He nullified his ego and admited to God that he can speak only what is put in his mouth. That is what Moses did and God said the quoted verse above. Only this way, Moses and Rabbi Shimon could channel the wisdom and the words of God bringing them to Malchut.
The learning from Rabbi Shimon is to always humble ourselves in order to have the light flame of God shine on us. We need to Keep it burning by constant connection, love and study of Zohar. It is the flame of the Torah that keeps burning as long as we connect to it. Rabbi Shimon is called the ‘Holy Light/Candle’ because he kept uninterrupted connection and studied the inner dimensions of the Torah. He ran away from the Romans and hid in a cave for 12 years so we can have this flame shining on us today.
The Daily Zohar is just a tiny Zohar section to feed your flame daily. Increase it by scanning, reading and studying more Zohar.
